@Vayseth_ Many consider $100K below living wage in SF/LA 😅 If you want to actually experience the city that is.

@HiQStar @QTRResearch Conflating points. Exploit that auto-signed hot wallet contracts != exploit for cold storage. Hardware wasn't exploited. Agree there's many risk vectors for newbies, which is why self-custody isn't for everyone yet. Doesn't make Bitcoin's existence moot.

@NotChaseColeman Extremely good call! Was overly bearish on their ability to pivot iOS, but they managed it. Plus CAPI and Zapier made things workable. Industry banded together quickly

Back when I was full-time tradfi, this was the email I sent to my LPs about $META at the end of 2022. Aged well, besides TikTok not being banned (yet).

In the middle of an orderly correction after arguably the best Q4 crypto as seen in years and we're already getting "Bitcoin is finished" tweets. Lol.

@ToliverOVA @antoniogm @nikitabier Tell me you’ve never run UA without telling me you never ran UA. Who is buying this product behavioral data and abusing it? Carriers sell location history, but this is device-to-carrier. Credit bureaus build profiles. These are not the same; anger is misplaced.

The greatest lie told to the public is that people make apps to sell data. Data has no value—you can buy a complete data set on the entire US population for under $10,000. In reality, we actually do it to sell engagement. Attention is more valuable than a spreadsheet. And you only capture people’s attention by creating valuable & novel experiences. This misconception has made people fear trying new products, which has hampered innovation in how we communicate and entrenched the positions of incumbent companies. And it has also narrowed the audiences who developers can build for. So when you ask why there are so many silly teen apps, it’s because it’s one of the few audiences that haven’t been deluded by the narrative yet.

Confluence is a corporate wiki without a working search function. What is the point of a wiki with no search? What are better alternatives out there?

@joe_zappa Not to mention the major ad networks can make contextual work with 1P data so power will concentrate there. Google for example can stitch together web and app behavior, searches, payments, location, YouTube, etc. which is very different from longer tail ad platforms.

@joe_zappa Impact depends on vertical and product. Not everyone will be impacted the same with contextual — it’s not just about serving the ad in context but passing signal back (fewer wasted impressions) and having a broad-appeal product that more users can convert on.

Adtechers: How do you feel about contextual advertising as a viable replacement for 3p cookie-enabled ad targeting? I’ve heard everything from, “Contextual is just as effective as behavioral” to “This is taking us back to the Stone Age.” What say ye?

@Travis_Kling When I did a SimilarWeb analysis on Coinbase’s traffic it had a lot of bot/affiliate traffic — like 30%+ of overall visits. That will pump homepage visits and uniques. I’d have to check Binance but if they aren’t buying low quality ads/traffic that explains the gap.

I do see a mention about crypto as "virtual assets" The Police seized cash of close to S$600,000 and other foreign currencies, 23 pieces of jewelleries, six luxury watches, 11 documents with information on virtual assets, and 12 electronic devices...

@arieljalali @growing_daniel This. Grabbing the wrong 7-11 500yen clear umbrella that looks like all the others is common — and alcohol plays a factor. Not like people are stealing umbrellas left and right. These lockers are usually near/outside bars in big cities.

@growing_daniel this is probably more about umbrella self custody to avoid inadvertently taking someone else's umbrella than worrying about theft

It’s odd this is common in Japan, a low crime high trust society, but in the US every business just has a bucket by the door for your umbrella

One group that is confused: the estate. Since FTX evidently had key control of the Sollet bridges, the liquidators seized ALL of the tokens in the bridges and sent them to storage The bridge address was used as a burn address- these tokens shouldn't really "exist"

@AutismCapital The bond money put up for him could be forfeited since he violated bond. I believe he had a bond of something like $250 million. I doubt they enforce it but they should to punish the enablers who bailed him out

TLDR: Sam Bankman-Fried Bail Revocation So basically the prosecution claims that Sam violated his bail by: - Harassing witnesses - Using Signal with disappearing messages - He would literally mandate others use disappearing messages because "nothing good can come from not disappearing messages" - He used a VPN to hide his internet activity - Sharing Caroline Ellison's personal diary as a media strategy - Leaking information to the NYT - Not producing original documents with original metadata (he could be lying about Caroline's Google Docs as we suspected) - They claim "Sam was slightly more subtle than a mobster" - Intimidating FTX US General Counsel - SAM DIDN'T GIVE THE NYT A COPY OF CAROLINE'S GOOGLE DOCS. HE MADE THEM LOOK AT IT ON HIS SCREEN AND TAKE NOTES (In our opinion we speculate he TOTALLY fabricated this) - Judge Kaplan says: "This defendant tries to go right up to the line." - SAM WILL BE STAYING AT PUTNAM UNTIL HIS TRIAL THEN HE WILL BE MOVED TO MDC. Sam then had to remove his jacket, tie, shoelaces, he was handcuffed, and led away.
