200 Anganwadi Workers. 2 Days. Dozens of toys. Thousands of classrooms about to change. In Dholpur, Rajasthan, 200 Anganwadi workers came together for a two-day Swadeshi Toy-Making Workshop — turning simple, locally available materials into engaging tools for early learning. Using recycled resources, participants created hands-on Teaching-Learning Materials (TLMs) designed to make learning more playful, interactive, and accessible for young children in Anganwadi centres. This workshop is part of our partnership with Vedanta Group's Nand Ghar initiative, which supports our programme across Dholpur, reaching 1000+ Anganwadi Workers and strengthening early learning outcomes for children under the age of six. No expensive kits. No complicated equipment. At the same time, government spending on early childhood development hovers at just 0.1–0.12% of GDP. The intent is there. Over the past week at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, we contributed to key national and global conversations shaping the future of AI in early education. We signed a first-of-its-kind trilateral agreement at the summit with the @mygovMaha and @OpenAI to launch Shiksha Saathi — our AI-powered digital coach for Anganwadi educators — announced by Hon’ble CM @Dev_Fadnavis @CMOMaharashtra and OpenAI’s Head of Public Policy, Chris Lehane. We also demonstrated Shiksha Saathi live at the OpenAI and @AgencyFund booth, showcasing real-time AI support for early childhood classrooms. We joined panels hosted by @Google , @FfwdOrg, @JPAL_SA, @EkStep_Org, and @CSF_India, highlighting the responsible use of AI in early childhood education. Our work was also featured by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology in its national casebook, Innovative AI Models Driving Impact in India, released at the summit. As AI reshapes education, the question is not whether we innovate — but how responsibly and inclusively we do so. Last week in Mumbai, we were proud to be part of a significant moment for India’s early childhood ecosystem — the launch of SIRA, a collective for Nurturing Care in India. Convened by LGT Venture Philanthropy alongside LGT Wealth India, GivingPi and Synergos, the evening brought together philanthropic families, foundations, and implementation leaders around a shared question: How do we ensure every child receives the care, stimulation, and support they need across their first six years of life? SIRA aims to drive coordinated action — aligning funders, implementers, and ecosystem actors behind a connected continuum of care. Because when the early years are fragmented, children’s futures are too. A defining moment of the evening was the unveiling of the Nurturing Care Funders’ Pledge, a collective commitment to mobilise long-term, catalytic capital and to act in a coordinated way for the early years. Funders who signed the pledge include Children's Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), The Convergence Foundation, Dovetail Impact Foundation, Grand Challenges Canada, Kathiwada Foundation, LGT Venture Philanthropy, and Veddis Foundation. We were honoured to contribute to this dialogue. Our co-founder, Utsav Kheria, joined Aparna Hegde (ARMMAN) in a panel moderated by Ashwin Iyer on what alignment looks like in practice — and how family philanthropy and implementers can collaborate more intentionally to unlock measurable, scalable impact.
