@Eduventuring04 These ppl are gaslighting the hell out of you to cover for modern day segregation academies. A lot of the parents are getting tuition paid by the state bc they’ve sued the local public school for lack of FAPE (which doesn’t apply to private schools). A whole racket.

Private schools don’t have tier 2 or 3 supports. Kids in need of supports leave (or are asked to leave) for schools that do (public)

@eduleadership It has the power of lore and it is maddening. They get to opt out of all the things private schools are required to do. It is segregationist policy that is the benefit to them.

The inability of the general public and many educators to understand selection effects is one of the greatest frustrations in education policy.

Yeah, it’s amazing what great results you can get when you don’t have to deal with children with difficult behavior. Why didn’t public schools think of that?!

@eduleadership What ppl aren’t going to mention with the “lots of private schools educate special needs”. Subtract how many of them are there from suing their local public schools for lack of FAPE. The public is paying to subsidize these schools and some we are subsidizing wholly.

A lot of people seem to not realize that some students are more expensive to educate because they have higher levels of need that require additional staffing. Private schools simply do not accept those students in the first place.

What if the irrational voting is because people are disempowered and trapped in a system that they have little to no effect on, so the only way you have left is to act out. (Not talking about the racists here, they exist but their motivation is clear)

@educator4ever36 Been saying this for years. They should start asking why the head of school of the private school ip the road with 300 kids has more autonomy than they do. Gross level of disregard and bias.

This. Most public school Principals have so little autonomy over their schools anymore. We are merely implementers of a board and/or Superintendent’s mandates.
