Park Service workers started dumping gallons of hydrogen peroxide (straight 12% concentrate jugs) into the water to “shock” it. Now chunks of that fresh blue paint/coating are floating around. Peroxide is a strong oxidizer - it basically eats away at certain coatings, especially if they’re not fully cured. Looks like they treated the symptom & wrecked the new $14 million paint job
