Vi este video y me quedé pensando un buen rato. Una maestra se negó a entregarle la nena a su propio padre. Él se identificó. La nena lo reconoció. Le dijo "papá" frente a todos. La maestra no cedió. No aparecía en la lista de personas autorizadas. 😶 Él llamó a la policía. Y lo grabó todo. Como mamá entiendo a ese padre. Imaginate estar ahí parado mientras tu hija te mira y te llama papá y no poder llevártela. 💔 Pero también entiendo a esa maestra. Porque los docentes cargamos con una responsabilidad enorme. Si algo sale mal con un chico bajo tu cuidado… el quilombo es tuyo. 😔 Los protocolos existen para proteger a los niños. Y también para proteger a los que los cuidan. Pero me queda una duda… ¿Cuando la propia nena dice "es mi papá"… eso no debería contar para algo? 🤔 ¿La maestra actuó bien o se pasó de protocolos? 👇 ¿Y era necesario ese escrache? Los leo

@adesertdryad Im white, my husband South American. It's a taboo to express yourself clearly and directly in his culture. Totally foreign to me. You're expected to self-sacrifice in martyrdom while expecting the same from everyone else around you??? So stressful, drives me crazy.

its probably easier as a woman to go from a high family involvement culture and marry into a low involvement one (asian girl marries white guy) than the reverse (white girl marries indian guy) “muh village” is actually kind of a pain in practice

@Madame_Ennui I’ve been living in the Netherlands for 9 years. My Dutch level is the bare minimum required for the citizenship. Everybody here speaks decent English. I do my best to keep up with the news, politics etc but I don’t feel encouraged to learn Dutch.There are other ways to integrate

It really is shocking to me that people don’t see living in a country for almost 10 years as enough of a reason to learn its language, because it doesn’t have as much value outside of that country. Don’t you respect the country and its people enough to learn their language?

@JapanUncharted @Porkchop_EXP I was surprised to see that it was quite expensive to study Dutch as a Erasmus uni student. In other countries, if you're a registered student,you can take language lessons for free. Not to mention I have to say NL of Spaans aub so people speak Dutch to me (my Dutch is C1 level).

@Porkchop_EXP That's what you get if you don't expect foreign students to learn Dutch. I remember that when a university class was taught in Dutch, and even a single foreign student walked in late, the lecturer would immediately switch to English. It was a source of pride for them.

20 years ago when I was a student in Groningen foreign students couldn’t get the shittiest part time job in some H&M store because you had to speak fluent Dutch “in case there is a fire alarm, for example, and you have to follow instructions to evacuate”. It’s now completely normalized all over the country to be helped by people who speak no Dutch. This would be absolutely wild in Germany, even in a totally foreign-occupied city like Frankfurt.

The Afroman Trial. -Cops raid Afromans house for bullshit reasons. -Steal money, break his door, fuck his house up. -No criminality found whatsoever, no charges at all pressed on Afroman. -Afroman spends the next 3 years making songs that make fun of all the officers involved by name, even using footage of the raid from his own CCTV cameras. -Songs had titles like "Randy Walters is a son of a bitch" and "Lick Em Low Lisa" accusing one of the officers of being a lesbian and sleeping with the other officers wives. -During the raid one officer looked like he was about to eat some lemon pound cake sitting on Afromans counter, Afroman made a whole album calling the officer fat. -The cops get mad and file a lawsuit for defamation. -Afroman turns up to court in a whole American flag suit. -Officers performatively mald and cry while listening to the songs really trying to oversell how badly the songs upset them. -One officer was suing because Afroman made a whole song about him saying he was fucking the officers wife. When the officer was asked if Afroman was really fucking his wife, he said "I don't know". Nuking his own case and establishing that there is a non-zero chance that Afroman might actually be fucking his wife. -As his only witness for the trial, Afroman brought a deputies EX FUCKING WIFE. -The jury ruled completely in favour of Afroman. This entire thing has been a great win for free speech and absolutely fucking hilarious.

@Mat_IRL @EleonoraFall The Dutch are very fast to blame foreigners of their very tough housing market (or almost anything that troubles them). Even though I don't think that's an accurate analysis, I do understand Spanish and French people following the same reasoning but against Dutch people🤔

@EleonoraFall The idea that the Dutch and the English are somehow responsible for any of France's crippling structural economic problems is so funny. It reads like they just revived someone who’s been cryogenically frozen since the reign of Louis XIV.

Exactly why I left. It became the preferred destination for sun-starved Dutch and English tourists, which turned the economy’s reliance on tourism into an absolute hellhole for the youth, who when I was there only dreamed of leaving. You push the natives toward self-destruction when you allow foreigners to take over historic properties and turn them into their eye candy summer homes.
