@movingfrequency Figure 300 batters faced for FIP to stabilize within season. Roughly double that for ERA. Stabilize does not necessarily mean won't go up or down of course, but the rate of change drops off significantly in most cases

The Avg is simply the avg of ERA plus the three ERA estimators along side it. Also showing the difference, (ERA-Avg). Bigger the negative number the luckier the pitcher is. Big positive number = unlucky The Team 3.10 ERA and 3.82 compositive avg doesn't include Ross and McCann

@shoewizard59 Can’t be too upset with that! Thanks! I’ve heard you discuss on the podcast the sample size required for metrics like bat speed to stabilize. Do you know if there is a known stablizilation figure for FIP/ERA? (I’d imagine a lot more moving parts there, especially staff-level)

@movingfrequency @Johhny_Snakes Great question. The D-backs actual team ERA, including Ross and McCann is 3.63, and that works out to a 109 ERA+. A 3.82 ERA, playing in the ballparks they've played in so far would be roughly 106, give or take
