@ABDanielleSmith Your actions say otherwise. You’re not loyal, you’ve done everything possible to sell Alberta out. Resign in shame.
English

I am fiercely loyal to Alberta and Canada and will be voting for our province to remain in confederation
Kicking the can down the road only prolongs an emotional and important debate, and muzzling the voices of hundreds of thousands of Albertans who want to be heard is unjustifiable in a free and democratic society.
It’s time to have a vote, understand the will of Albertans, and move on.

Smith’s superpower, again, is saying nonsensical things in a way that sound almost reasonable, unless you actually listen to her. Citing the people who signed the remain petition as a reason to entertain a separation referendum is pure horseshit.

If a separatist group wants to fight this in court, they can pay for their own appeal. It is not the responsibility of Alberta taxpayers to subsidize a political project the government claims it does not even support.

@OJoelsen How many times do we need to say no!? Greenland & Canada have no desire to be part of the US. Mr Stanley needs to go home.
English

DR (the Danish Broadcasting Corporation) has interviewed Cliff Stanley from Nevada, who over the past two days has attracted major attention in Nuuk after offering 200,000 dollars in exchange for support for making Greenland American.
He plans to remain in Nuuk until May 19, when the special U.S. envoy Jeff Landry — independently of Cliff’s trip — is planning a controversial visit to the Greenlandic capital.
And if it turns out that Greenlanders — contrary to his expectations — have no interest at all in becoming an American state, he says he already has a backup plan.
“I will do my best as a human being. To give them this, if they want it. And if they don’t want it, that’s okay. Then I’ll just go to Canada and see if they want to.”

Here is the man drawing attention: “I’m trying to give the Greenlandic people an opportunity”
Sermitsiaq (Greenlandic newspaper) has met Clifford Stanley, who says he is in Greenland to offer people a proposal.
American citizen Clifford Stanley is in Nuuk to collect signatures and gauge support for the United States taking over Greenland.
In recent days, the American’s actions have attracted considerable attention.
In an interview with Sermitsiaq, he says that he believes he is there to help people.
“I’m trying to give the Greenlandic people an opportunity. It’s up to the people themselves. It’s not my choice. It’s their choice,”
86-year-old Clifford Stanley told Sermitsiaq.
According to Clifford’s proposal, every person in Greenland would receive 200,000 dollars that could not be touched by any authorities. He says the money would come from the United States.
He explains that he wants to create a database containing the results of his survey and share the information with authorities in both Greenland and the United States, as well as with the police, universities, and the Greenlandic people.
According to Clifford Stanley, he has met two or three people in Greenland who were interested in his project, though others have scolded him, and he says he has felt threatened.
Clifford Stanley refers to previous surveys in which an overwhelming majority rejected becoming part of the United States:
“I would like to change that so that 85 percent say okay to it,” he said.
Regarding the large amount of money proposed for each person in Greenland, Clifford Stanley says that he does not personally have the funds, but that they would come from the United States. He describes himself as a broker or intermediary who, if he receives support from enough Greenlanders and from the U.S. government, could attempt to negotiate an agreement.

Russia. The U.S. The Alberta government. And First Nations taking on all of them at once. The separatist movement threatening their treaties is being amplified by Moscow and Washington.
I’ve been covering this story for months. This week it got bigger. Way bigger. It’s wild and it’s real. Share/Read/Comment here: open.substack.com/pub/indigenous…
