@KyleTuckerCBB I think a big part of my frustration is there are multiple people to be mad at Cal for getting lazy and letting it the program go Mitch for giving a job to someone not qualified for it Pope for not making some basic changes to help where he falls short

From October. Got zero. And the reality is at least a couple of them would’ve said yes if you just bowed out of the Stokes sweepstakes. It’s not a huge secret that playing with him is not for everyone. There seems to be a lack of awareness that’s alarming.

Kentucky has now had visits scheduled with players ranked 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 12, 13, 16, 17, 18, 25, 27, 28 and 63 throughout the 2026 Cycle. Some have already committed elsewhere or canceled but the Wildcats certainly haven’t been shy this cycle.

And just to bottom-line it: Kentucky is not comporting itself as a top program in college basketball under Pope. It just isn’t. Zero lottery pick-level high school recruits signed, one top-15 transfer (with a torn ACL) signed in three cycles.

Losing to Bill Self on the guy Self wanted most is not really a knock on Mark Pope. Putting your entire Class of 2026 recruiting focus on trying to get the guy Self wanted and everyone told you he would probably get … is a mind-boggling mistake.

@KyleTuckerCBB 5% chance he saves it next year. We are watching a slow car crash. When same issues pop up over and over again you have to look at the common denominator. He has failed to close on several recruits in the 3 off seasons. And that’s not the only repeating issue.

I love what bengals did. I get if someone didn’t. But the media response from the Crosby deal compared to Dex deal is interesting. Two top players. Both same age. One team gave up far more. Yet one was praised and one wasn’t. Just one of many examples

@MattVerderame Crosby older than Dex. Coming off bigger injury. Gave up not just 13th pick which is only 3 behind the 10th but a future first. And yet you “love” one and think the other is “ridiculous”. Interesting.

That's all fine and well (no disrespect to Field) but this is a ridiculous trade by the Bengals. Trading the No. 10 overall pick and then having to pay a huge contract to a 29-year-old (come November) coming off a 0.5 sack, 8 QB hit season is bonkers
Field Yates@FieldYates

The steep prices paid by the Bengals for Dexter Lawrence underscores two important points about this draft class: This is not a strong draft at the top. The lack of blue chippers is well-established. This draft is extremely thin at defensive tackle.

The reality in today’s portal world is you’re just as likely to be getting played — used to drive up the price at the place a kid really wants to be — as actually negotiations and recruiting.

Big for BYU. Had been trending this way in the past 20 hours. My understanding is Wright's camp wanted to *really* test the market on a bigger NIL number after BYU wouldn't budge, but amid all that hoopla, Wright wasn't really that eager to play at a third school in three years.

Pope has gone head to head against the school he left 3x with more resources. Two of the players he coached. Saunders - miss Chandler - miss Wright - miss It seems the school you left has benefited from your departure.

@KyleTuckerCBB Seems so short sighted to me. Wanted uk to wait. Losing one year potentially in recruiting portal for a proven coach is worth it over taking a gamble on an unproven coach

Elite 8 loss to 11 seed nc state. Give up a 9-0 run in final 30 seconds to lose to Houston in final four, and a ten point lead late to lose to UConn. A narrative is forming with Scheyer. 3 choke jobs in row.
