Applebaum's piece is worth reading slowly because the specific details are doing work that the summary can't. Danish military commanders - inside a NATO alliance the United States founded - had to sit in a room and war-game whether their forces would shoot down American planes and kill American soldiers. Some of them still haven't fully recovered from running that exercise. The most popular app in Denmark during Applebaum's visit was one that identifies American products so users know not to buy them. NATO has invoked Article 5 exactly once in its history. On behalf of the United States. After September 11th. Allied troops went to Afghanistan and some of them died there. Trump told reporters those allies "stayed a little back, a little off the front lines." The families of soldiers who didn't come back heard that. Now Trump is in the middle of a war in the Persian Gulf with the Strait of Hormuz locked, oil prices spiking, and he's telling NATO allies - the same ones he insulted and tariffed and threatened - that he's "demanding" they come help solve a problem his own decisions helped create. Applebaum's conclusion is precise: he doesn't connect what he does on one day to what happens weeks later. Allied leaders have drawn their conclusions. The rupture, as Mark Carney called it, isn't coming. It already happened.

Trump has insulted and tariffed his European allies, persuaded Denmark to prepare for a US invasion and, by pressuring Ukraine and not Russia, encouraged Putin to keep fighting. All of which he has forgotten. theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/03/โ€ฆ

People please stop claiming that if only "Iran would do a deal" then this war would end. You are absolute idiots. Trump's terms are a SURRENDER of everything, not a "deal." And Israel will of course sabotage any deal in the first place by killing / bombing the negotiators. If you actually think Iran is the cause of this war, remember that the Strait of Hormuz was WIDE OPEN before Trump and Israel attacked. And they did it on purpose. It was Trump who tore up the deal that was already in place, btw: the JCPOA. He trashed it and now wants it back. Too late. Trump wants to wage a weekend war with zero consequences and an easy off-ramp. He's now finding out that's impossible if the other side won't surrender to your outrageous demands.

Donald Trumpโ€™s decisive action in Iran has likely saved the world from nuclear war. Democrats - Clinton, Obama, and the AutoPen Fool - all had the same intel regarding the imminent nuclear weapon capabilities of the terrorist regime. Trump had the balls to DO SOMETHING.

I just got off the phone with someone who works in defense policy in Washington. What they told me should end every "Trump is reckless" argument permanently. "Every single president since Clinton received the same intelligence briefing on Iran's nuclear timeline. Every single one was told the window was closing. Every single one chose to kick it down the road because the political cost of acting was higher than the political cost of waiting." Trump got the same briefing. 60kg of 90% enriched uranium. 4 weeks to breakout. Material for 2 bombs. He chose to act knowing it would tank his approval to 35%. He chose to act knowing his own base would split. He chose to act knowing NATO allies would refuse to help. He chose to act knowing gas prices would spike. A senior analyst I know at a major think tank put it this way: "The difference between Trump and every president before him isn't intelligence. They all had the same data. The difference is courage." Read that again. Every president had the same file on their desk. Only one opened it and did something. I'll keep you updated. Turn on notifications. ๐Ÿšจ

Real allies? Trump joked about Greenland and Canada knows it's a joke you humorless clown. Meanwhile your precious Iran regime funds attacks on actual allies like Israel and Saudi Arabia while chanting death to America. They will resist? Good. Let them. Trump hits hard and fast unlike the weak leaders who let terrorists grow stronger. More radical? The mullahs are already the most radical evil regime on Earth executing gays stoning women and starving their people. Good luck with your resistance. America protects its interests and real allies. Iran loses. Pathetic.

Dear American people, What have you done to yourselves? Does a statement like this truly sit well with you? When rhetoric around Iran and the Strait of Hormuz slips into spectacle, it reflects not strength, but a quiet abdication of responsibility. Politics, at its finest, is a moral conversation; anchored in restraint, reason, and accountability. Reduced to performance, it becomes mere noise: loud, reckless, and unanswerable. The question, then, is not about one individual. It is about what a democracy, in its collective wisdom, chooses to accept and eventually, to normalize. We, too, are not sailing in a different boat. Jai Hind.

The Strait was open because Iran hadn't started this war yet you fool. Business and tourism with Saudi Arabia and UAE? Those are the same countries Iran has threatened attacked and tried to destroy for decades with missiles drones and proxies. Dubai thrives despite Iranian aggression not because of the mullahs. Your ๐Ÿ™„ ignores that the real mess is the Islamic regime turning a once prosperous Iran into a bankrupt terrorist sponsor while its people suffer. Trump is ending the chaos by hitting back hard. Keep posting your eye rolls while America protects real allies. Pathetic.

Oil prices spike because of Iranian aggression not American strength. The Middle East was already a mess thanks to decades of mullah terrorism. Bases hit? Minor damage from cowards who hide behind proxies while their own people starve. Perspective: Iran is getting crushed economically and militarily because they provoked the wrong president. Calling others evil and pedo while defending a regime that rapes children and hangs gays? That's rich coming from a pathetic apologist. Trump ends wars by winning them. Grab your popcorn on Tuesday. Trump doesn't bluff!

Spare us the selective sob story. The 1953 coup stopped Mossadeghs oil nationalization and communist flirtation. America backed the Shah who modernized Iran with booming economy womens rights and progress. Your beloved Islamic Revolution repaid us by storming our embassy holding Americans hostage for 444 days then funding terrorism nukes and death to America chants ever since. The mullahs oppress women stone gays and arm proxies to kill innocents. US intervention prevented Soviet takeover. Irans regime exports jihad and poverty. Elevating that history just makes you a pathetic apologist for evil. Get perspective.

America doesnt invade or nuke anyone lightly you historically illiterate clown. We stopped actual genocides and liberated millions while your beloved regimes murder their own citizens daily. Poor baby who cant handle America defending itself and its allies against terrorists and nuclear threats. Your pedo president slur is desperate projection from the party that protected Epstein and let Biden sniff kids on camera. Corrupt administration? Try the one that weaponized the DOJ against opponents and flooded the border with criminals. Happy Easter indeed. Maybe pray for some intellectual honesty instead of your pathetic whining

@manojkjhadu Why do people loose sight of whatโ€™s important here, the removal of a terrorist regime thatโ€™s only intent is building a nuclear capacity. A mean Tweet, a Trigger Truth sends everyone ballistic. Wake up FFS.
