As we come to the end of May, we reflect on a moving moment from this month’s Assembly voting session, when Assemblywoman Eliana Pintor Marin rose to remember former Assemblyman Albert Coutinho, whose impact on Newark’s Ironbound community & the State House is still deeply felt.

It will allow individuals to walk in voluntarily or be connected through 988 for up to 24 hours of stabilization, treatment, and follow-up support services. “This is both the moral and right thing to do,” Katz said during the visit. “When you’re in crisis, you need a safe place.”

Recently @AswAndreaKatz toured the new Bergen County Crisis Receiving and Stabilization Center ahead of its opening. The space is designed to provide people experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis with immediate care, support, and a safe place to go.

The visit underscored the importance of standing with New Jersey’s farming community as recovery efforts continue and highlighted the need for coordinated state and federal support to help protect the Garden State’s agricultural industry.

After unusually warm temperatures caused crops to bloom early, freezing temperatures between April 19-22 severely damaged blossoms & developing fruit. Some farms are facing catastrophic losses, with statewide agricultural damage estimated in the hundreds of millions.

This week, @SpeakerCoughlin, @AswAndreaKatz & Asm. @angelozzi_ant joined @GovSherrillNJ and @njda at Russo’s Fruit & Vegetable Farm in Tabernacle to see firsthand the devastating impact April’s prolonged freeze had on New Jersey farmers.

Honored to receive the Distinguished Legislator Award from the New Jersey Veterans of Foreign Wars. It is a privilege to lend my hand in the work to support those who defended our country and I’m so proud of the progress we have made.

Legislation (A1008) sponsored by @AswCarolMurphy and Asw. @katiebrennan_32 advanced from committee today to establish basic life support services as an essential service in NJ and require municipalities to ensure residents have access to BLS and ambulance care.

Today, an Assembly committee passed the “General Contractor Licensing Act” (A3899), sponsored by Assemblyman Robert Karabinchak, which seeks to establish statewide licensing standards for general contractors in New Jersey.

Proud to see my bill to make accessing school meals easier receive final legislative approval today as the Senate passed it unanimously, because we know students perform better when they’ve eaten, and parents shouldn’t have to jump through hoops to make that a reality!

The bill would create both short- and long-term goals for improving emergency medical services, including response times, workforce training, trauma and specialty care coordination, EMS dispatch systems, and mental health and peer support services for first responders.

Today, the Public Safety and Preparedness Committee advanced legislation (A2384) sponsored by Assemblyman @BillMoen that would require the State to develop a comprehensive Statewide Emergency Medical Services Plan to help strengthen and modernize EMS care across New Jersey.

The legislation would advance next-generation nuclear energy projects while prioritizing grid stability, workforce development, and protections for ratepayers.

Today, the Assembly Telecommunications and Utilities Committee advanced the “Power NJ Act” (A4881), legislation to establish a framework supporting advanced nuclear energy development in New Jersey.

Asm. Bailey & @michaelvenezia have sponsored bills to ensure that data centers – not ratepayers – are held accountable for higher energy costs. They joined @GovSherrillNJ today as she called for strong guardrails to strengthen transparency around data center development in NJ.
