No one has a problem with migrant workers. People have a problem with their “joy” being a NUISANCE to the rest. Did their country play/won anything for them to flood the streets screaming at the top of their lungs? This “joy” they can save to unleash in their own country.

If you have a problem with migrant workers, or anyone for that matter, celebrating World Cup joy, that's really a you problem. Take your miserable xenophobia and hole yourselves up.

@oopsrrrr @Max966143842120 Locals already holing themselves up. You’ll see more foreigners on the road than locals in public. It’s when we see them in a bad light but we don’t realize it’s because of us they are basically taking over. Sad to say we have already sold out our country without even realizing!
English

@ganjabogoas @WhoknowsKina If being concerned about this behavior & not wanting to see this in Maldivian streets is called xenophobic, then yes, that’s exactly what iam.
English

If you say they can’t behave like this in the Maldivian streets, it will be called xenophobia. The hell. These expats numbers are alarming and they need to be contained. They can’t behave like this in Maldivian streets. The streets are not for creating this nuisance.
are you gone MAD🤯@AreyougoneMAD
We shouldn't let them have this much freedom and be a nuisance to the general public. Mind you kids / old people are sleeping this time.

@oopsrrrr At this rate if Argentina wins the world cup, our neighborly expats might as well set fire to Male’ 🔥

@oopsrrrr Call it xenophobic, racist, or whatever label people want to use the reality is that every country has laws and regulations, and foreigners are expected to respect them. The same applies to Maldivians living abroad.
This kind of behavior should not be tolerated at all.
English

@oopsrrrr Yeah send them all back… and see what happens.. u people make me sick!! Doesn’t matter where we born, we are all humans!! Borders were created by humans! Also they are not begging on street, most of them earns by legal means! Get educated and mostly be a human!!

@oopsrrrr @ahmdabdlazz So my final point is. Because we are allowed to pay them so little, we have this issue: Indian and Chinese companies get quota to import them too.. they don’t bring their own nationals cos they have to pay more.
Our labour minister and friend take bribes to let more in
English

@ahmdabdlazz @wrldcmms Male ga neiy than kolhe dhivehin ulhen ves. Dhen kihineiy mi emmen if they keep importing more?
हिन्दी

@oopsrrrr @wrldcmms Well, your comment that I replied to was about "lazy" Maldivians. And your original comment makes it seem like they are conspiring somewhere to take over and coming here on a planned mission. Why don't you yell at the corrupt gov officials and businesses that exploit them.
English

These Maldivians are so “woke” they are asleep while whole land being taken over by these expats & they wake up ONLY to call others racist or xenophobic if someone else calls it out or shows some concern. SMH.
Dhivehin are scared to say shit coz of these extra “woke” dhivehin.

English

@ahmdabdlazz @wrldcmms Worded wrong. By take over I meant to say their numbers are almost about to be more than locals and that’s not sustainable.
English

@wrldcmms @ahmdabdlazz Agree with all you said and that needs to be talked about more.
But I’m not here blaming tbem on those. I’m here calling out on this behavior of public disruption. These are two different things. Let’s not mix up.
English

@oopsrrrr @ahmdabdlazz A person working full time should be able to afford housing, food, medical, and other basic needs without sharing an apartment with three other families.
But weall accept the status quo and blame the foreigner instead of blaming the lawmakers and policymakers
English

@wrldcmms Yes I’m aware of it all. But my post isn’t about that. So why you keep doing whataboutism ? Flooding the streets in mass 50,000 screaming at top of lungs is not acceptable when their country didn’t even play. If that’s called promoting hate, then that’s what it is.
English

@ahmdabdlazz @wrldcmms That is a convo to be had but my post wasn’t about it. Let’s not do whataboutism.
Neither I’m bothered coz some people had some “fun”. This isn’t the way.
English

@ahmdabdlazz @wrldcmms Our people won’t be getting hired because these people are there to do all x4 cheaper for slavery wages. Maldivians won’t work for it. I’m sure you know about the living expenses. These low wages are still a fortune to expats. That’s why.
English

@adizzybug Bangladesh meee Argentina rayyithun tha to go flood streets in a mass of 50,000 screaming at the top of their lungs blocking streets & disrupting elders and kids sleep? I would understand if Bangladeshi played or won something. They can’t celebrate it without creating nuisance?
English

maldivians will see people celebrating their world cup team win a match and start looking for the concentration camp
