Once again, for anybody reading, the Steam Machine is NOT for the enthusiast PC gamer, who's extremely tech savvy.
It's for the people who want to get into PC gaming, without the hassle, or the technical know-how, that wants to game on the couch.

The Steam Machine prices were just announced: $1049 for 512GB version (without controller). If you want a controller its $1128. If you want the 2TB version its $1349 (without controller) and $1428 (with controller). Guys just save up for a proper gaming PC. This is too much.

Butthurt PC fanboys trying to community note this lol. The PS5 Pro comes with 2TB and a controller, the most equivalent of the Steam Machine bundles is the $1428 one, which after taxes IS indeed $1500. Nothing was "implied" you morons.

I need you to understand, the Steam Machine is so expensive that if Sony lost its mind and tomorrow raised the price of the PS5 Pro by another 30%, from $900 to $1200, it would STILL be $300 cheaper 💀💀💀

@Nick_Marseil You'll be paying the same price in the end when you include the monthly subscription. At $11 month base over 5 years minimum, you're paying $660 on top of the console price in 5 years. Typical console life span. Either way bad time to buy electronics.

The Steam Machine is the size of a tissue box, near silent, uses only 140W of power, will be easily repairable, isn't limited to SteamOS and can never be rendered inoperable by a ban or shutdown, and has far cheaper games through Steam.

@PlayerEssence Nothing highlights the bubble enthusiasts exist in more than them trying to argue hand held pcs were ever a threat to switch. Steam deck is the best selling one by far and it’s still niche compared to mainstream consoles.

It's wild to me that people don't understand why someone would want the Steam Machine. IMO:
- No Windows driver BS
- Couch gaming FTW
- Steam games get steeply discounted & more frequently than console games
- Future integrations with Deck & Frame

The Steam Machine will be ~$500. That ~ can be +/- $100 Meaning as low as $400 and as high as $600. Yes I know everyone is anticipating this being much higher. I remain confident it will be ~$500 Bookmark this

Comparing this to ps5 is stupid. Different software catalogs entirely. You buy steam hardware to play steam games or build a PC.
