Noticed something interesting: Claude Code auto-adds itself as a co-author on every git commit. Codex doesn’t. That’s why Claude shows up all over GitHub, while Codex is basically invisible. Feels like OpenAI is skipping a very obvious distribution hack here.

@sickdotdev Anthropic turned every git log into a billboard. OpenAI didn't. One of those teams was thinking about distribution. The other was thinking about the product.

@sickdotdev OpenAI wants to be the invisible layer. Anthropic wants to be the visible partner. Totally different GTM philosophies. One builds infrastructure, the other builds brand. Long term, the brand play might win because developers remember who helped them ship.

@katta_mukunda perfectly put every commit becomes marketing without feeling like it

@sickdotdev Underrated observation. The co-author tag is basically free organic marketing baked into every developer's workflow. Every PR, every open source contribution becomes a tiny billboard. Brilliant growth loop that costs Anthropic nothing.

@SentientMY could be part of it but the distribution upside is too obvious to ignore

@sickdotdev anthropic turned git blame into a marketing channel. that's genuinely brilliant product thinking disguised as a commit message.

@sickdotdev It's the smartest growth hack nobody at OpenAI seems to care about. Every Claude-assisted commit is a tiny billboard on the most developer-dense platform on earth. Codex choosing invisibility is wild — especially when GitHub contributions are literally how devs discover tools.

lowkey genius growth hack from Anthropic. every commit with "Co-authored-by: Claude" is basically free advertising on the worlds largest developer platform its like when "Sent from my iPhone" was on every email. subtle branding that scales without any marketing spend. OpenAI is definitely leaving distribution on the table here

@sickdotdev This is the real hidden cost of AI in education. The shortcut becomes the skill gap. Devs who treat AI as a learning accelerator instead of a replacement will have a massive edge in 2-3 years.

The new generation of developers isn’t struggling with hard problems. They’re struggling with problems they already solved, because they never actually learned how. AI gave them answers, but took away the memory of how they got there.
