@Essex_Patriot It doesn’t mean you work 4 months for nothing. 40% tax is applied over a threshold. Taxes are far too high but don’t talk shit

YOU KNOW WHAT'S INSANE? If you're on a 40% tax rate, you're handing over 40p of every £1 you earn. That means. JANUARY. FEBRUARY. MARCH. APRIL. You're working 4+ months a year just to pay the government. But that's just income tax. Now add: VAT on almost everything you buy Vehicle tax & licence fees - Council tax & land tax - Fuel duty & road tolls - Stamp duty, insurance taxes, "luxury" levies. When you add it all up, if you earn £100k, you're likely working 5-6+ months a year just to cover taxes. That's half your year gone before you even see a pound for yourself.

@spindicator @BladeoftheS 'Worth' vs cost, people do their own research and make their own decision🤷‍♂️ Anyway, I'll ask again, and you can ignore again...what % users need a waterproof phone. If they want to pay for stuff they don't need that's on them, no?

The EU now requires all Mobile Phones to be sold with easily replaceable and standardised batteries, as they used to be. From 2027 they all will be again, in Europe.

Germany just released 2025 crime data. Overall, Algerian nationals commit crime at 18x the rate of Germans and nearly 100x the rate of Japanese nationals. 1/11

Polanski's Green Party plans to give migrants Universal Basic Income of up to £1,600 a month in a scheme critics brand 'madness'. Which would cost taxpayers £19 billion a year. Illegal migrants would be given a regular cash payment by British taxpayers without needing to become citizens, under plans drawn up by the Green Party. Documents reveal that the left-wing outfit, currently polling at 18%, would hand a monthly payment of up to £1,600, called Universal Basic Income (UBI), to anyone in the country without settled status, or who have a non-visitor visa.

@rawespresso Most pensioners will own a house and also have private pension? The pension bill already makes up most of the welfare budget? What do we do? Pensions are paid by taxpayers. Government already spends more than what it receives

The UK full new state pension is £11,973 a year. The poverty line for a single adult is around £14,500. You'll work 50 years paying into a system that, by its own definition, retires you straight into poverty.

@ZackPolanski you’re so full of it 😂 haven’t you been calling Keir a liar this week
Louis Mosley@louismosley

@ZackPolanski - this is magnificent. Three things I can’t deny: 1. It is a video. 2. You are wearing a jacket. 3. Then you aren’t. 4. Then you are again. Unfortunately that’s where the accuracy ends. A few corrections for you: Peter Thiel is not our CEO. Alex Karp is — and has been for 20+ years. (A lifelong Democrat, for anyone keeping score.) We are not a “spyware company.” Spyware is malware. Malware is illegal. Calling a software company spyware is, technically, defamatory (don’t worry, we are not suing). We don’t build surveillance technology. We build software that helps organisations make sense of data they already hold. Not the same thing. There was no “private tour” of our HQ. There was a public photocall to which the media came. Hence, why there are so many pictures of the event. Our MOD contract is not “the biggest defence contract in UK history.” Ajax armoured vehicles = £5.5bn. Dreadnought submarines = £31bn. We’re grateful for the work, but let’s keep a sense of scale. We have no more access to NHS data than Microsoft has to the contents of your Word documents. I think you know this by now. We don’t have access to patient medical records. Same story. I agree that “nothing matters more than our health.” Which makes it worth reminding you of what Palantir’s software is actually doing in the NHS right now: ->110,000 additional operations ->15% fewer delayed hospital discharges ->7% more patients finding out within 28 days whether they have cancer Respect again for what you did with that jacket.

This is not our war, but it is now pushing up bills for families and businesses. That’s why keeping costs down is my number one priority – and our economic plan has put us in a stronger position to face this crisis.
