In our bug bounty review series for @aave listed assets, today we focus on @ether_fi . With $11B+ across weETH & eBTC, the $200K max bounty only covers weETH while eBTC ($190M TVL) is left out of scope—making EtherFi’s program an outlier. Here’s how it can improve 👇
@ether_fi bug bounty program is hosted on @immunefi with a max payout of $200K. Scope covers the EtherFi DApp, website, and core contracts (weETH). However, eBTC is not explicitly included—leaving $190M in BTC unprotected.
While $200K exceeds our $50K minimum to attract skilled researchers, it’s insufficient relative to $11B+ in weETH TVL. Bug bounty rewards should scale with assets at risk.
Recommendations:
⟢ Include eBTC in scope ($190M TVL, complex dependencies)
⟢ Raise max bounty to reflect $11B+ in weETH
For context: among assets with TVL > $5B (excluding centralized issuers), @LidoFinance , @ethena, @chainlink , @SkyEcosystem , and @Uniswap all offer ≥$2M max bounties. EtherFi’s $200K stands out as an outlier relative to the value it protects.
As TVL grows, bounty coverage should grow too. Expanding scope and raising payouts would better align incentives with the $11B+ at risk and improve protections for both weETH and eBTC.
