I now pay ~$0.3 per new free user 💸
Before I paid $0.04.
That’s because I’ve increased initial free credits from 1 to 3.
Why?
Because only 1 free credit doesn’t let new users play 💡
Let’s do the math.
100 users at $0.04 = $4
Only one needs to convert to be profitable.
100 users at $0.3 = $30
5 users need to convert to be profitable.
This is obviously a risk, but if nobody converts at only 1 free credit?
That’s going to be more expensive in the long run.
I can’t sustain this indefinitely though.
However, Snapstick is currently at 60 users - most of them never return.
Hopefully this small change fixes that.
Most indie hackers are building solutions to problems they've never actually had.
I spent months building a todo app while my biggest problem was procrastination, not organization.
Build for your own pain. Everything else is just guessing.
20 days building my first SaaS.
• No viral moment
• No acquisition offer
• No investor calls
• Just 20 days of showing up
Questions though:
Is 20 days enough or am I just getting started?
Building an app today feels very different
from 3 years ago.
Back then: about 2,000 new apps launched every month. Today it’s almost 15,000.
Have we even hit the peak yet?
