@NomadMission @afneil Have you stopped for a second to acknowledge whom the rest of the world is looking at, in horror, right now? Clue: it ain't Iran.

President Trump threatens to wipe out Iranian civilization if Tehran doesn’t cede to his demands by 8pm New York time (1am London) tonight (Tuesday). “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will,” Trump writes on his Truth Social platform. Is there anybody, any group capable of staging an intervention in the White House?

@NomadMission @afneil Yup, and you can expect those suicide numbers to escalate as decent, fearful Americans continue to be terrified by the ramping up of hate-filled, violent rhetoric by their crazed leaders. What a sorry mess from this now rogue state.

@NomadMission @afneil Well, 40,000 Americans with guns killed each other last year. I know who I'd worry about if I was in USA tonight, and it ain't Iran.

Reporter: Deliberate attacks on civilian infrastructure violate the Geneva conventions and international law.  Trump: Who are you with?  Reporter: I'm with the New York Times Trump: Failing New York Times. Circulation is way down. Reporter: Are you concerned that your threat to bomb power plants and bridges amount to war crimes? Trump: No, not at all. These are disturbed people. Quiet. You no longer have credibility. You’re fake.

“I don’t think they’re rushing to the peace table just yet.” Iran’s control over the Strait of Hormuz is “more powerful” than a nuclear bomb, so it’s unlikely they will want to negotiate, especially as Trump continues “floundering”, says Times Radio presenter @afneil.

@esaagar It's where we are. Fuck NATO. They sit back and expect us to do all their dirty work. South Korea and Japan have been sucking US defense dry for 50 years as well and have done nothing to help when they depend on the Strait being open for their oil.

The most revealing part of the Trump presser was near the end: He trashed not only Europe but Australia, South Korea, and Japan The only real allies in his eyes were the GCC and Israel. Literal inversion of reality

@esaagar Europe and Australia r a complete joke. We should without a doubt get out of NATO as the globalist objectives don't serve the US at any level and we foot the bill. Not sure why he trashed S.Korea and Japan, but the others good riddance. Let's c how he deals w/China

I cherish my 15-odd springtimes stomping around Augusta National, listening to Jack, Arnie, Greg and Tiger before settling down daily to a Peach Cobbler (sometimes two). I used to send 1200w to The Herald after a weighty lunch on the lawn. Stressful days.

@Microinteracti1 Wait, Europeans can't even defend their own women on the streets, being harassed & raped by illegal immigrants. Now, they want to pretend they are strong enough to defend Europe? 😆 You can't make this stuff up...

I am not sure the American military establishment has fully grasped what Trump has actually done here. So let me spell it out in language even a Pentagon procurement officer can understand. Europe has been buying American weapons at a staggering rate. In 2024 alone, US foreign military sales notifications to European countries hit $76 billion. Four times the European average since 2008. F-35s, missile systems, air defence, ammunition. All of it American. All of it coming with decades of service contracts, maintenance agreements, spare parts, software updates and training programmes worth hundreds of billions more over their operational lifetimes. Between 2020 and 2024, the United States supplied 64 percent of all European weapons imports. That is now over. Europe has an $860 billion defence plan, and American contractors are being frozen out. The goal is 80 percent of all military purchases from European factories by 2030. Airbus. Rheinmetall. KNDS. Saab. Leonardo. BAE Systems. They are about to receive the largest order book in the history of European defence industry. Because Trump made it politically impossible for any European government to keep writing cheques to Washington. Some European governments have discussed worries that the Pentagon could remotely disable American F-35 fighters or impose restrictions on how US weapons can be used. When your supplier is also threatening to annex your allies, that is not paranoia. That is basic procurement logic. Trump set out to make America great again. He has succeeded magnificently. For Rheinmetall. Gandalv / @Microinteracti1

Matt Le Tissier has returned to Southampton in an advisory role which will support the club’s board. Le Tissier is expected to work with the club’s football department and contribute to decision-making. The 57-year-old, one of Southampton’s most celebrated players, previously stepped down from his role as club ambassador in 2022 following criticism of his social media activity. The Central Belt defenders of CalMac have been quick to argue that the current woes are simply the result of unfortunate breakdowns coinciding with scheduled maintenance. They haven't explained why you would sensibly schedule maintenance *at the busiest time of year* (Easter).
