The Type Chart
@thetypechart
Pokémon evolves, yet the type chart remains at the heart of it all. 📊 Types • Design Logic • Game Balance Across Generations

Pokopia is a fascinating showcase for Pokémon types outside of battle.
Some translate naturally (Grass, Water, Fire, Electric). Others have abilities more tied to their design… and some barely translate or aren’t represented at all.
Which types hold up best for you? Which would you like to see fleshed out in future updates?

English

@XL5000boi @UniteVids Relatable but fixable! While holding ZL when placing water, pressing left or right on the D-pad adjusts the water level (different from changing the block height via up/down). The ocean is at half-height. Doing this over any trouble spots should get you back on track.
English

@UniteVids Water pisses me off in this mode, I've got a random patch on bleak beach in the ocean that no matter where I placed the water, it won't fill in correctly ☹️
English

@JoeMerrick Easy to miss, so this is a great callout! Chef Dente does briefly mention it when cooking unlocks, and it occasionally shows up as a loading screen tip, but it’s one of those mechanics that can be easy to forget with everything else going on.
English

@LvxGoW @JoeMerrick Joe actually touched on this recently. Apps are more tricky to navigate legally. x.com/JoeMerrick/sta…

@SciFiManiacDan Alas apps are legally iffy and I don't want to cross that boundary
English

@JoeMerrick You guys ever considered making an official Serebii app? Especially with Android handhelds becoming more common it'd be amazing.
English

You all knew that I would do this. You know I can't help but do an interactive map now.
I'm testing the waters with how far I'll go with it. I'm not able to catalogue every field item's precise location really as I've moved them all around and that would frankly be insanity.

Serebii Update: We have begun adding interactive maps to each of the Pokémon Pokopia locations for Item and Recipe locations for item found in Poké Balls on the field serebii.net

@ProDexApp 💯 Love it! The iconic Gen 1 Pokédex design is getting its day in the sun again in Pokopia. I'm glad to see you sticking with it!

👀 Spot the change?
The app just received a new Liquid Glass logo.
A cleaner, more modern icon made to shine on your Home Screen.
Rate the new look from 1 to 10 ⭐

The shadow angle makes sense. Ghost has definitely become Pokémon’s “shadow” space over time.
My only hesitation with a Light type is that the type chart usually evolves to solve mechanical problems, not thematic ones. Since Ghost already interacts cleanly with Dark and itself, introducing another counter might create more ripple effects than it fixes.
English

Just some *light* speculation...
If Light type does wind up being a thing, I think the type that most has to fear it is Ghost, not Dark, as Ghost is really the "shadow" type.

Light???

@thetypechart One of those games that as soon as the title screen opens it just breaks open the clock and does this..

@ChocolateKieran I’d have to agree. Especially not with all the unused combinations as it is. x.com/makio_jroses/s…

Which type combination would you like to see introduced in Gen 10? If you could pick one, how do you imagine it? 👀
English

@ScatlinkSean @mattjoans The Poké Ball display was incredible! The Hisuian exhibit also hit me with so much nostalgia. As a Lucario fan, seeing the Tower of Mastery section was also breathtaking. I guess I just loved it all. 😂
English

@thetypechart @mattjoans Yes I wasn't expecting to see every pokeball on display lol
Modern shop, modern Apricorn and ancient Apricorn designs, literally every one.
English

most diabolical downgrade of all time going from enterable buildings to open kiosks. sorry

I see the resemblance! Though they’re doing slightly different things mechanically.
Ditto changes type by transforming into other Pokémon, while Rotom changes type by inhabiting different electronics.
Both are fun examples of how the games experiment with flexible typing. A surprising number of Pokémon play with the type system in their own ways too.
English

@thetypechart It seems like Rotom has many forms to show in the future. It starts to bare an interesting resemblance to Dittos abilities
English

• Minor Pokopia Spoiler •
Rotom’s alternate forms usually gain a secondary type tied to the element their appliance uses:
Heat → Fire 🔥
Wash → Water 💧
Frost → Ice 🧊
Stereo Rotom (DJ Rotom) from Pokopia is Electric/Normal, which stands out.
Sound moves span many types, but Sing and Hyper Voice show there’s precedent for associating sound with Normal-type moves.

English

@Miles90234527 @HiddenPowerPod I'm seeing some spoilers that explain the decision, but I'm avoiding as best I can and looking forward to exploring everything myself. 🙌🏼
English

@Rad_Dudesman @HiddenPowerPod It all makes sense now! Can't wait to play for myself later this evening. ⚡️
English

@thetypechart @HiddenPowerPod She can still absorb and store electricity in her body, she just can't generate her own anymore.

English

@AbraxasVGC @sgtboogaranan Especially with the number of unused type combinations that already exist. 😅

@JoeMerrick I will travel across the land, storing far and wide?
English

@SinnohJohn Steel for me as well! Lucario and Scizor would both be on the team (among others to account for defensive coverage).
