This is good; and true. Regional parties, including Annamalai, excluding AIADMK, have been nurturing this cynical grievance for their survival.
No TN leader stood for state rights more than Jayalalithaa and Kamaraj, but they never lit or let this nonsense play out.

அண்ணாமலை பா ஜ க-விலிருந்து விலகும்பொழுது தனது அறிக்கையில் "தேசிய கட்சிகள் தமிழகம் புரிந்துகொள்ளும் அண்ணாமலை பா ஜ க-விலிருந்து விலகும்பொழுது தனது அறிக்கையில் "தேசிய கட்சிகள் தமிழகம் புரிந்துகொள்ளும் மொழியில் பேசுவதில்லை" என்று குறிப்பிட்டிருந்தார். இது சரியான பார்வை அல்ல என்பதே எனது கருத்து. தேசிய கட்சிகள், மாநில கட்சிகளைப் போல, தாங்கள் செய்கின்ற செயல்களைப் பற்றி, அவற்றின் முக்கியத்துவத்தைப் பற்றி முறையாக கூறுவதில்லை என்பது எனது கருத்து. அவர்கள் தவறு செய்வதில்லை என்றெல்லாம வாதிடப்போவதில்லை. அதிலும் குறிப்பாக, பா ஜ க-வின் அபிமானியும் நான் அல்ல. எவ்வாறு காங்கிரஸ் 1950-களிலும் 1960-களிலும் தமிழகத்திற்கு செய்த பல சாதனைகளைப் பற்றி கூற தவறியதுபோல, பா ஜ க-வும் தவறிவிட்டது என்ற விமர்சனம் என்னிடம் உள்ளது. இருந்தாலும், தேசியக்கட்சிகள் தமிழ் நாட்டின் பிர்ச்சினைகளை, தேவைகளைப் புரிந்துகொள்வதில்லை என்பதுபோன்ற கருத்தை மூன்று உதாரணங்களின் மூலம் என்னால் தகர்க்கமுடியும். ஜனவரி 2017-ல் தமிழ்நாட்டில் ஜல்லிக்கட்டுக்கான போராட்டம் நடைபெற்ற பொழுது, அப்பொழுதைய அ இ அ தி மு க அரசு முன்மொழிந்த அவசர சட்ட மசோதாவிற்க்கு மைய அரசின் ஐந்து துறைகளின் ஒப்புதல் வேண்டியிருந்தது. ஒரே நாளில் ஒப்புதல் பெறப்பட்டு அவசர சட்டம் அமுலுக்கு வந்தது. தில்லியில் அரசுத்துறைகள் எவ்வாறு செயல்படும் என்பதைப் பற்றி அடிப்படை அறிவு உள்ளவர்கள் புரிந்துகொள்வார்கள் - ஐந்துத் துறையின் ஒப்புதல் ஒரே நாளில் பெறுவது என்பது கனவில் கூட நடக்காத ஒன்று என்று. .... காவிரி நீர் மேலாண்மை ஆணையம் என்ற அமைப்பு உருவாக்கப்படக்கூடாது என்பதை இறுதிவரை கடுமையாக எதிர்த்து வந்தது கர்நாடக அரசு. அம்மாநிலத்தில் ஒரு பிரதானக்கட்சியாக பா ஜ க இருந்தபொழுதும், உச்ச நீதிமன்ற ஆணையின் நியாயத்தை புரிந்துகொண்டு மேலாண்மை ஆணையத்தை உருவாக்கியது மைய அரசு. ..... மூன்றாவது, அ இ அ தி மு க ஆட்சியில் இருந்த பொழுது, ஒரே வருடத்தில் 11 புதிய மருத்துவக் கல்லூரிகளுக்கு தமிழகத்திற்காக மைய அரசு அனுமதி வழங்கியுள்ளது. அய்மெஸ் கட்டிடம் இதுவரை கட்ட்ப்படவிலலை என்பது குறைதான். ஆனால், ஒரு மாநிலத்திற்கு 11 மருத்துவக்கல்லூரிகள் என்பது பா ஜ க ஆளுகின்ற மாநிலங்கள் கூட பெறாத ஒன்று.

Had Annamalai won something, he would have been given greater leeway.

@vjlive Kamaraj was not just a TN leader. He was one of the leaders of Congress at national level. There’s been no leader from TN of that stature afterwards. Reasons are many but therein lies the angst of states of TN. A CM appointed or fired at whims of Delhi won’t fly in some states.

This is broadly my view as well. Some of these qualities are fine but also double edged sword. Bjp should have thought before getting him in in the first place but once they did, he was better in than out...I think it's almost guaranteed he lands up in congress at some point

Decent analysis actually. Few other things that were mentioned: annamalai is impatient, but also super hard working, implies he is a careerist, says bjp gave him a long rope, also says annamalai apparently regrets some hindutva issues he took up
