@yoracrab It isn't as simple... It's close to medieval Europe at the first glance, but in the matter of fact it's close to Poland reality from 90-ties of the XX-th century (environment issues, Great War with connection to II world war and so on).

About TW4 tackling sexism. The Witcher is not just a medieval dark fantasy setting, it’s extremely close to medieval europe, including the way women were viewed, witch hunts happened. These are themes in the books and even in TW3. I thought we cared about lore authenticity here ?

@Oriru_Bastard @yoracrab No, it's not stupid, because fantasy is written for today's reader who understands the world he lives today, with today's problems. Fantasy is NOT a history book where author should be history accurate. It is TODAY'S book for TODAY'S issues.

@yoracrab Getting bit tired explaining this but folks back then didn't have same ideologies as we do. Bringing modern day ideologies in to past fantasy setting is stupid, exhausting & quite honestly we're just tired of being screamed at by games that's supped to entertain, not lecture us.

@yoracrab In books ther were no women-witcher, however CDPR enlarged witcher lore (in games p.e. viper school, in Dark Horse comics), so the fandom is wider and in polish witcher series from 2001 there was female Witcher School.

« Women can’t be Witchers » The Trial of the Grasses were designed for men. Very few survived which is why it was assumed that women won’t. Ciri has Elder Blood and is canonically the strongest character in this universe, do you really believe she couldn’t pass it ?

@yoracrab Not her entire life 😉 in the matter of fact she was really quite short in Kaer Morhen. She did get the sword fighting skills, but her really practice was with the Rats 😉

Ciri was trained her entire life to become a Witcher, the word Witcher was often used to describe her in the books and all she ever wanted was to be like Geralt. Cintran and Nilfgaardian royalty was a path she ran away from. The classical tomboy princess archetype.

Ciri is the best protagonist to carry The Witcher franchise forward. I can't imagine not wanting to play as her.

Unpopular opinion: Velen is my favorite area in the Witcher 3. Yes over Toussiant. Every area in this game is great. but I just lover how Witchery Velen feels. The Crones are incredible villians, this area feels drowned by war and Monsters. And then of course the Baron Quest
