It’s clearly earth one inspired but I still don’t get why adaptations love to take inspiration from “alternate earth comic #1” “What if scenario” “animated show” And never “The comics everyone loves”

@BatmanRouges Because those stories create new foundational arcs for these characters, “recreating” their origin story in essence, and adding new things along the way. Writers who are creating new canon like to borrow from those foundational elements and seek them out as source material.

@BatmanRouges Because those products have usually already done the effort to make it work in modern day, so they can do the least amount of work as possible. "We'll use the Ultimate universe because that was already updated for the modern day, it's easier" type shit.

@BatmanRouges Because it’s not scripture and they’re artists. They want to be creative and make something which is optimized to appeal to their own personal sense of taste, exaggerating the elements they like and minimizing or reframing the ones they want to use differently. Something new.

@BatmanRouges Animated shows are, in fact, often much more popular than the comics, so it often makes sense to use them as a baseline.

@BatmanRouges I'm still cautiously holding out that the show will be good and there are explanations for stuff like this, but yeah. I really wish more comic-based stuff was based on the actual comic it's supposed to be based on.
