Instead of delivering reliable service, Nkosi’s companies delivered invoices. Eskom officials signed
off on contracts that priced relays at R50,000 each, when the market price was between R180 and
R450. This manipulation resulted in a direct financial loss of R73,650,994.87 to Eskom.

That's the real story of the Hormuz crisis, and markets haven't fully figured it out yet. iPhones can reach Dubai in 14 days right now, but a million barrels of crude can't get out at any price. Maersk has already published a whole new container map, with land bridges through Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Pakistan picking up the slack. 34,000 ships have diverted in 4 weeks and the container world is adapting in real time. But crude doesn't truck, and LNG doesn't reroute. 230 loaded oil tankers are sitting stranded inside the Persian Gulf right now. Paper oil is pricing a peace deal, but physical oil is pricing a blockade. Both can't be right, and one of them is going to move very fast when it figures that out.

We understand it’s a very senior official.

“He's got over ten years of experience in governance.”

JUST IN: A second senior official linked to the South African Police Service investigation into the City of Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality has been arrested, escalating a widening corruption probe. The 40-year-old municipal official was taken into custody in Johannesburg today. He faces charges of fraud, corruption, and defeating or obstructing the ends of justice, mirroring those brought against a previously arrested suspect in the same matter. South Africa is a vast country. 13.6 million people live in parts of the country which are so remote that setting up fibre networks is not viable. Satellite coverage is the way to go.
No one is forced to buy it. No one is forced to use it.
If you don’t want it, don’t have it.
But don’t stop others from having it.
The brouhaha over Starlink is nothing to do with the need or cost of it.
The visceral response is that Musk has exposed a raw nerve in the BBBEE apartheid system and is demonstrating that he is anti apartheid and will not trade under such conditions. Countless other businesses would set up in SA if the BBBEE Apartheid system were to be repealed.
Musk’s Starlink is the only visible one.
