@alexmeshkin “Omicron is mild” is the new “kids don’t transmit Covid”. Somehow an optimistic and irrealistic rumor was started, and it’s repeated so often that people consider it’s true. The burden of proof is put on the wrong side, and wrong decisions are made in the meantime. 🦄🌈➡️🏥☠️

@EtatdeVaud Vous contrôlez aussi les motos ? Il faudrait pratiquement interdire les motos non-électriques, ça ferait une énorme différence au niveau de bruit gênant.

This is a recently released graph of the US disabled population 16 and older from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. The gray bar signals the beginning of the Covid pandemic. (via @PeoplesCDC) Tell me again about how the pandemic is over.

It is cold and wet, public transport is getting crowded, and positivity and viral load are rising. It’s good to pay attention to air quality and use a (FFP2) mask if necessary. #COVIDisAirborne But the good news is: so far every single month in 2023 remained lower than in 2022.

EXCESS DEATHS, a thread 🧵 Below is a brilliant thread from @greg_travis which illustrates how governments are hiding the ongoing problem of high excess deaths by shifting the baseline to include pandemic years. It makes a HUGE difference. And it’s happening here too…

As I've explained in tweets before, calculating "excess" deaths involves first deciding on a "baseline" period against which you will compare deaths today Which baseline you pick determines if today's deaths are equal to, under or over what deaths you expect to have

Update: I could convince a wikipedian to edit their page on COVID-19 misinformation. The @WHO is now mentioned on @Wikipedia as having spread COVID-19 misinformation. Not sure if it will remain, so best to keep an eye on this page from time to time: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COVID-19_…

Let’s take a look at the @Wikipedia page on COVID-19 misinformation. Possibly the worst misinformation in the history of public health communication - the @WHO claiming “FACT: COVID-19 is NOT airborne”… and it is NOT mentioned in this page? 🤔 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COVID-19_…

First obvious lesson: Don’t just… believe the terrorist organization’s claims wholesale. Do some due diligence Second obvious lesson: It’s better to be right than it is to be first Third obvious lesson: YOU DON’T HAVE TO BOTH SIDES EVERY STORY
OSINTtechnical@Osinttechnical

I think at some point, either now or in the near future, the international media as a whole should step back and do a postmortem of what happened over the last 36 hours. There are absolutely deep lessons that should be taken from this.

Some quick thoughts on why large parts of the mainstream media keep slipping up on Gaza/Israel (and why it was the same at times with Covid): The main reason is a failure to keep pace with modern news gathering techniques, but there’s more.
