When I was in the fifth grade I did really well on the end of year tests and was accepted to go to Stanford as part of the Center for Talented Youth programs, to study math. When I got there, I was two years behind everyone else. It was confusing and disheartening. I realized that California was intentionally holding me back, that I had gotten one of the worst educations in the country. I spent a month at Stanford learning math just to catch up to kids who were far beyond, and it was just normal at their schools. In 6th grade they wouldn’t let me skip, even though I was this point years ahead of everyone else in my class at math. It really turned me off to school and I just checked out and started doing computers after that. I found a loophole to get out of high school and into college early and I did that. California has one of the worst educational systems in the country and it is embarrassing. Smart kids are up against a mountain of bullshit to succeed. It’s insane that S.F. doesn’t teach Algebra until 8th grade and even that was a hard fight. Absolutely embarrassing.

Update on the JavaScript -> Wasm compiler. For two weeks in a row now I've run out of my personal ChatGPT Pro weekly rate limit, this past week almost purely from this project. I've instructed gpt-5.4 codex w/extra high reasoning to go through multiple rounds of code architecture refactoring to ensure that the compiler's codebase can scale elegantly to the entirety of the ECMAScript language. The compiler is now passing 8.33% of the test262 suite in the language category. I'm sorry but do you understand what's happening here? AI is writing an AOT JavaScript -> Wasm compiler from scratch! No project has successfully taken a JavaScript -> Wasm compiler to completion (Porforr being the best attempt), and I intend to keep pushing this project
