Completely hypocritical and probably unrealistic, but I want to gauge the consensus. Let’s say you could only sign two: 1. Bastoni & Alvarez. 2. Vuskovic & Osimhen. Who’re you choosing?

@NealGardner_ Grimaldo is top. Adds the offensive bit that a Cancelo would add (not dribbling though) and is much more mature as a proper full-back than Cancelo. Would be the perfect complement to Balde if we can get him reasonably.

Erm… genuinely, why? We could probably get Cancelo in on a free, and he’s more than adequate as a backup (on both flanks). Clubs moving like they suddenly have unlimited money lol.
Reshad Rahman@ReshadFCB

🚨💣 JUST IN: Grimaldo’s name is back on the table for this summer, he is the preferred alternative first choice! Deco feels that left-back is a position the club needs to address this summer. @Alfremartinezz #Transfers 🇪🇸📞

@richimedhurst And, you don't think countries could be forced to radically expand their renewable energy sector with the kind of dominance that the US is trying to pursue?

Honestly, whoever thinks the petroyuan is going to change this has lost their marbles. Only solution is military, I fear. Iran needs to kick them out of West Asia or it's check mate.

@billycarpy I think a fully fit Odegaard and the game could be a different story.

Terrible. The game was lost because Pep could basically put a narrow front-four in front of a midfield two and dare the rest to play around or over, and there wasn't enough technical security to do that. Hoofing is a contagion.

We are not talking enough about how Flick got "Neuer and Joan" the exact 2 GKs who are perfect for his system. Anything less/different could've created a problem for him. Joan especially came from nowhere. The timing was crazy in this context.

All the Odegaard haters are silent now. They just had no one to retain, try to find solutions or receive the ball outside the block and move inside. They had no one to receive the ball in the pockets. Arsenal were only that toothless because they did not have him.

Even talking about the spy-gate incident, his willing and complete admission without a doubt shows the fact that his intentions were not malicious. Who would’ve done so? It hurt the spirit, he faced the consequences, did not hide away and owned up to what he did. El Loco indeed.

All can be said but there isn’t a man of principle like Marcelo Bielsa in the game. How many managers would be willing to do what he did vs Aston Villa? In today’s game, almost 0. He was a man of class and brought back an entertaining culture to an iconic club. Class man.
Adonis Storr@theadelites

In 2019 #LUFC’s then manager Marcelo Bielsa sent a scout to watch Derby train ahead of their upcoming fixture. The scout stood on a public footpath and took a few notes. The modern equivalent of a dark ages witch hunt followed, spurred on by hyperbolic pundits. Keith Andrews accused Bielsa of not giving a damn and not adapting to the culture of England. In fact, Bielsa explained in a 45 minute impromptu press conference that he cared too much. In the extraordinary presser, Bielsa broke down a tactical analysis of Derby - showing that he had amassed such an unprecedented amount of information and statistics on them - that the training session the scout watched could give him no extra information that he didn’t already have. Bielsa explained that he sent the scout anyway because if he didn’t do everything he possibly could - within the rules - to help Leeds win, then he would feel irreconcilable guilt. And after spy gate had been investigated by the EFL - and Leeds were found to be in breach of the “spirit of the game” and fined £250,000 - Bielsa refused to let #LUFC pay and instead paid it out of his own pocket. What was that Keith Andrews said about Bielsa not giving a damn and lacking respect? Today, the ‘spirit of the game’ has never felt less vague. Was it in ‘the spirit of the game’ to drag Bielsa’s name through dirt on every show throughout the spy gate scandal? And where is the ‘spirit of the game’ now, with football club-owners-cum-charlatans taking fans for a ride on their get-rich-quick schemes of stripping a community’s cherished possession of its assets and selling to the highest bidder? Where is the spirit of the game in agent payments and state-funded sports-washing? Or in the ceaseless betting advertisements that ruin lives? Or Man City’s 115 charges and the PSR hypocrisy that fails to create a level playing field - PSRs sole reason for existence? Is VAR in the spirit of the game? Is making away supporters travel 100s of miles at midnight in the spirit of the game? I’m not sure I have ever seen, I’m not sure I’ll ever likely see, a more erroneous use of the term and law being applied to punish a club. Those few weeks in 2019 were bizarre. The media made an avalanche out of a snowflake and pundits and wannabe coaches got paid to lambast Bielsa from the rafters. And after hearing about how Marcelo has revolutionised the game wherever he went and was idolised by the world’s best coaches. And after seeing Leeds United become “everyone’s second team (for the first time in the club’s existence)”- these pundits and analysts finally had a reason to tear Bielsa down off that pedestal and they did so with relish. They talked of Bielsa in the scathing tones usually only reserved for war criminals. Yet his only crime was that he sent someone to stand on a public footpath and watch a football team train because if he didn’t he’d feel guilty. It was a ridiculous moment for the culture and the irony was compounded when Leeds and Bielsa won the FIFA Fair Play Award for letting Aston Villa score a goal in another bizarre story for another time. If anyone embodies ‘the spirit of the game’ it is Marcelo Bielsa - or at least, football would be lucky to embody his spirit. The Argentine will be back in the country this month as his Uruguay side play England. Tonight, Keith Andrews returns to Elland Road as manager of Brentford. A timely reminder of what Andrews’ said about Bielsa during spy gate ⤵️

@AM10FCB I think it’s less tactical as much as he’s failing the media and man management side of things. To me the moment he failed to trap that ball and everyone laughed I could tell he didn’t command the room people looked at him like a nerd they couldn’t relate to

Sacking Rosenior doesn’t do anything right now but worsen the problem. Give him till the end of the season and ensure that the new manager has the time & space to work for a new season with his own ideas rather than being forced to come up with a lot of coping mechanisms. Rash.

@EthanFromOnline But, to be fair, keeping a really on-form Brentford so quiet and under control is not something a 15th placed team usually does. Have to give credit to Farke. His job is to ensure that you at least get 1 point a game, in such a tight situation.

Fair to say Leeds' trump card is Wolves and Burnley at home. But if Leeds don't show more initiative to win games at home than have vs Brentford and Sunderland, you won't win those either. #LUFC

@thornbill9 Who are you thinking of? I think Rosenior gets too much stick, tbh. Yes he overdoes it & he messes it up for himself in so many cases, but the guy’s talented. His history suggests he’s ambitious & not easy to give up, so let us see how he manages this.

@thornbill9 Doesn’t do anything long term + it would be the second sacking within the same season that makes it really hard for the players to adjust once again. They are not getting UCL even if they sack him. If he gets his shit together, he’s capable of getting them a UCL spot.

@AM10FCB Hire an interim that can raise the short term ceiling like carrick because the financial benefits of ucl places are dramatic. Doesn’t need to be sustainable

@theshy08746434 I don't watch enough football to classify as a scout, but in terms of profiles, someone like Declan Rice sits really nice there. So, Rice/Tchouameni/Nico G type players.

United are a top side who love committing players forward & combining as a unit. However, there’s a clear rest defense & transition defending problem. United may have to play a higher line against such teams & not play Maguire if they want to maintain their chance creation. 1/

Neymar is one of the best players to grace a football pitch. The range of actions he could complete reliably at a very high level is a joke & is frankly too hard to match. He could do almost everything & was at the level of Cristiano at his peak. Incredible ZOI.

Their counter-press is concerning because they use their midfielders for box presence & chance creation and their line is quite deep. There’s no one in the middle to intercept transitions & that is a problem. So, to balance out the intuitive play, you need a higher line. 2/
