In Sweden/Finland if a heat pump can't heat the home on the coldest of days they light the fire. In the UK engineers are made to design the sink system with much more thought (to meet 100% demand)... if homeowners go cold on the coldest days they don't light the fire... they write to the @Telegraph

You know that drawer/cupboard in the kitchen where all the oven trays and pans you never use live? Get them out, fill them with water and place them round the garden, front and back, under shade and cover, and in the sun. And please refresh them at dusk for the nocturnal animals.

Hedgehog mothers are becoming heat stressed and abandoning hoglets. Make sure you always have water available in the garden and put down a bowl of kitten kibble every night. #GHR
