Pasteurized (which I’ve both done myself and had it done professionally) is blander, flatter, thinner; a more neutral of a flavor.

It's virtually impossible to naturally lose weight once you get to this point.
You don't really burn any excess calories (above homeostasis) because you're immobile and basically getting zero exercise.
Indeed, even maintaining homeostasis is calorifically cheaper, because your body has so much insulation it has no need to burn calories to keep you warm. (Ever been on a long fast? It makes you cold!)
And the death blow - dopamine. These people aren't going in the sun, playing with their children, having sex, or doing any singlular activity that externally rewards them with dopamine.
