Life expectancy is an important measure of our #publichealth efforts. While new data from the @CDCgov reports a slight rebound to 78.4 years in 2023, a report from the Bloomberg American Health Initiative (@AmericanHealth) highlights how the U.S. lags behind the United Kingdom, where life expectancy is 2.7 years longer. Causes of preventable deaths like cardiovascular disease, overdoses, gun related incidents, and motor vehicle crashes are contributing to a decline in life expectancy and demand urgent public health action.
