Ideally that will happen. He'll head into the season with a lot of the same dead weight but he'll give Kasper, Finnie, Danielson, MBN, and ASP the opportunity to work their way into those positions. Kasper, Finnie, and ASP just never really seized that opportunity this year. But as they continue developing they'll outperform Copp and them and take those spots.

I guess you can put a time frame to it. But the goal is to fill the top 9 forwards and top 4 defensemen with prospects. So far we've only really filled one forward spot and two defensive spots. Kasper and Finnie are developing themselves into two more of the forward spots and ASP is developing into a defensive spot. The goal has always been to rebuild through the draft. If the prospects begin to fail to meet their expectations then the seat will get hot.

I think it depends what you mean by new. Danielson, MBN, and Cossa will probably earn full time spots. You might see Lombardi, Johansson, or Wallinder if any of them seize the opportunity. And there will probably be one or two players we snag from free agency or trades. The FA market is pretty bad though.

This should be my last Red Wings post for the season but how many new faces do we expect next year? 2-3? How’s anything going to change when you keep running back these same “jerseys” that float around the ice?

@BeyondXGoals @RedWingVictory Finding Finnie relative to where he was picked really helps a rebuild. Any growth in any area of his game will pay massive dividends as a 7th rounder for us. I'm just not sure he can be a solid 2C in the NHL, but I hope I'm wrong.
