This is the actual core of the Red Wings and people need to come to acceptance with that fact. Raymond, Kasper, Danielson, Plante, Finnie, MBN, Lombardi, Bear, Genborg. Seider, Edvinsson, ASP, Johansson, Johansson, Keenan. Cossa, Augustine, Postava Larkin, Cat, and Copp will act as our veterans. Yzerman had said over and over again that he's going to build through the draft. They are putting nearly all of their chips into these prospects. Many of you don't think that these prospects can fill the spots in the top 6. And that's ok. But they think they can.

@BeyondXGoals @Deepthinker36 @JFreshHockey @HockeytownRD The top guy his final year had 126 points to his 67. Once again believe what you want but he’s most likely not a top 6 player. His xgf% is cool he can be a good 3C but that’s not what you hope for from a 9th pick.

I want all teams in Detroit to be good, so I’m not trying to throw shade, but relative to expectations, Stevie Y as GM of the Red Wings has to be one of the greatest disappointments in Detroit sports history.

BREAKING: Steve Yzerman is being transitioned out of his role as Detroit Red Wings general manager. Yzerman will move to be senior advisor to Governor and CEO to owner Chris Ilitch. “A search for a new head of hockey operations is underway,” the team said in a release.

If I scored three goals and you scored four goals, I didn't out produce you. If I score two goals and you scored one goal, I did out produce you. Danielson had a 49.85 xGF% in those 28 games.

I think your window is too short. Around 23. Maybe as early as 22. But you don't cut someone short at the age of 21 when they're dealing with injuries. Edvinsson is a perfect example. Everyone was worried about him when he was 20. Then everyone started to believe at 21. And now he's a legitimate top pair guy at 22.

@BeyondXGoals @Deepthinker36 @JFreshHockey @HockeytownRD I mean 2-3 years after a draft you start to get an idea. Danielson didn’t really dominate the WHL or AHL. It’s not looking great so far. I get they are exceptions but Habs have found other talent as well. Dobes is a 5th round pick. Caufield mid 1st. Guhle late 1st.

And that's my fear. New leadership will go one of two directions. 1. They will sell everything off and rebuild. We'll spend the next 5 years trying to find a way to be competitive again. 2. They will package young players and prospects for 30 year old players and open a short 5 year winning window. And both scenarios are significantly worse than waiting for Edvinsson, Kasper, Danielson, ASP, Finnie, MBN, and Bear to develop.

I'm basing this off of changing the direction. I don't see why they would make a change in leadership unless they wanted to change the approach. This move most likely means that Yzerman's "build through the draft" approach is at its end. I'd expect the new GM to be under immense pressure to win now. Which means packaging and shipping off prospects.

Wallinder 10. Buium 11. James Assuming one of the likely and all of the unlikely players flops, you're still at 7 players.
