Just putting it out there so I don't seem like I exclusively bitch about HD2, cause there are so many positives to the game. For starters, there isn't a lot of games that do spark the community it has (Talking about the positives) like the larping while it gets annoying sometimes, is still funny cause there aren't a lot of communities that do it like the HD2 one. Aesthetically, it feels fucking amazing, each front has a way different feel in atmosphere that you can look at and tell what it is before seeing the enemies. And the enemies too, for all the issues they have gameplay-wise a lot of time, they are all cool as hell. The enemy I bitch about the most, the Vox Engine is honestly my favorite looking and sounding so the designs overall are great. And for weapons, a good amount are incredible too, the way they feel and or function. The fucking breaching hammer and Leveler are badass. I don't hate the game, I hate seeing what's happening to it, hell I love the fucking game, but love it or not, don't defend the poor actions that something you love does.

Problem with the warbonds is not even the idea of them, but what they started doing with the content in them over time cause this has definitely been a slow boil. When they were first releasing, you could look forward to three armor sets in there, and the stuff in the Super Store was extras that correlated to the first one or two initially, AKA not having a particular theme and giving players a taste of a lot of passives. The first real thing that kinda raised eyebrows was skins for vehicles being put into warbonds, which ended up replacing the third armor sets. The third armor set was now a super store item and since it was 90% of the time a different type of armor (Heavy, Medium, Light), you'd have to buy it if it was a passive you really liked and happened to be the type you ran. But then they started nerfing what you bought (I get it some of you grind credits, but honestly if the item you GRIND for gets nerfed into oblivion, you should be even angrier.) but at the same time, buffing enemies so that the items you bought felt even more worthless and like you wasted time and or money. And I'm not gonna pretend they aint ever done shit good, Helldivers was insanely popular off rip for a good reason. And the PSN account issue really made it feel like they were community first but just with poor communication, and the communication is unfortunately still an issue (Shadowbuffs/nerfs). But then issues brought up often weren't getting addressed past that, except for some snarky remarks from the community manager, who they never reeled in. (Cowboy hats, transmog, being just contradictory in general) though granted a lot of issues were addressed recently in the AMA, but again, in the most vague and or kinda snarky ways possible. They then started buffing our stuff for a while again, Warbonds while still having the same issues, felt like the gear was REALLY good. But the boiling point, AKA this warbond, was putting an item that was at launch a earnable item through req slips, and now thats premium too. I hate to sound like I exclusively bitch about the game, I try to point out positives, cause there are a lot, but the positives are outweighed by negatives these days, so its easy to find that stuff.

@NahtotheNah You're just making up expectations and then being mad that they aren't met. The game has lost more ppl due to a lack of challenge because of constant power creep than anything. Buffing weak enemies and nerfing overtuned weapons is good to keep what's left of the challenge.

I personally can’t wait to get mech customization and the “upgrades” to be your mech now is 2% faster but it has sway and high recoil now, enjoy! Or 5% more ammo but it can jam and you have to get out and fix it manually or something.

"The helldivers devs balance the game as if the bugs are paying customers" It turns out this was true. The breakthrough mech is apparently so strong that the bugs just alt f4 instead of fighting it. They were right all along.

I noticed a pattern of helldiver glazers "Mech is great and durable" *they are playing bugs, mechs are really good against those if u keep distance. not much talk about squids/bots "mech shield can survive a bastion tank gun" *the bastion didnt get the durability damage buff

Helldivers 2 is a game where it's players are the unpaid PR team tasked with convincing you that some of the most abysmal nonsense is actually the greatest gift bestowed upon super earth. opinions are 1 thing but it's turned into delusion. "heavy armor hive guards are good" :)

arrowhead view helldivers 2 as a slapstick comedy where a bunch of incompetent buffoons die every 2 seconds from random acts of carelessness from cheap, ineffective, mass produced equipment, and are constantly up against the wall against far more powerful enemies they had no chance of ever defeating if you dont play the game this way, you're doing it "wrong" and they will go out of their way to make sure you're having the "correct" experience by making your turrets deliberately shoot you, giving eruptor shrapnel player magnetism, making DSS eagle strikes target you, nerfing all the gear they see as "too effective", and deliberately sabotaging major orders so that they dont accidentally portray super earth as even slightly competent to me the game is at its best when youre with a group of friends who all know what they're doing, all pick a role they're good at, and are communicating and coordinating, and we get through a really difficult mission with little to no casualties because each and every one of us has been through the zero to hero arc and know that we could fuck it up at any time by being careless myself and many others are frustrated because this game is so close to being a 10/10, but their incessant need for us to play the game "their way" and refusal to fix very easily fixable problems holds them back and it just feels like its being done out of spite at this point

my helldivers 2 steam review from 2024. please change arrowhead One of the biggest fumbles in gaming history. I can't tell if it's incompetence, ego or intentional self sabotage to save on server fees. The writing was on the wall ever since patch 0.100 where they tried to adjust enemy AI thinking players wouldn't notice while also increasing headshot damage players take. Fun isn't a word arrowhead is familiar with and instead they're dead set on making a game catered to a core audience of muppets and yes men. They want players without critical thought or an understanding of the game because those are the only people who can attempt to appreciate the dumpster fire of a game that arrowhead has created out of helldivers 2. it wasn't the honeymoon phase or anything like that it was the intentional changes made by arrowhead which to this day make no sense. I did get a lot of enjoyable experiences out of it but there's no excuse for the caricature of a game that helldivers 2 parades around as now. The community is an army of glaze divers with stockholm syndrome ready and willing to defend the game at a moments notice regardless of what's happening. the majority don't comprehend basic mechanics or simple math. They think that facts are opinions and these are the folks devs take advice from? The game isn't enjoyable anymore, it's not to "difficult" it's just not rewarding or engaging. It's simply a waste of my time when I'm spending upwards of an hour trying to find something I could enjoy. All the devs know is arbitrary difficulty and I don't see that really changing. It's a horde shooter that plays like a tactical shooter with hordes of enemies. Just another game to add to a growing list of what could have been if folks who had a semblance of a clue were running the show.
