I am a US medical grad who works with IMGs every day—many had to work twice as hard just to get here: more exams, visa hurdles, fewer opportunities.
They’re not taking shortcuts, they’re overcoming barriers.
And our healthcare system depends on them.

Doctors trained overseas are 2.5 times more likely to be referred to the medical regulator for malpractice. It's totally insane that the NHS is prioritising overseas doctors over our most talented medical graduates. It's a terrible deal for doctors and patients alike.

Illegal from Venezuela has been charged with the murder of 18-year-old Sheridan Gorman in Chicago. 25-year-old Jose Medina-Medina allegedly shot Gorman, a Yorktown High School graduate and freshman at Loyola University Chicago, on Thursday while she was walking with friends near Tobey Prinz Beach, less than a mile from campus. Police say the illegal approached the group on foot and opened fire. Gorman was struck in the head and pronounced dead at the scene. The illegal had previously been arrested in Chicago—but instead of being deported, he was released. Now an innocent American woman is dead as a result. RIP Gorman. Yes. Insurance (risk based protection against future unknowable incidents) is not designed to cover things that have already happened and are certain to incur costs. Yes, this was a problem, but not one that can be solved by insurance. This is like signing up for car insurance the day after you crash and expecting them to pay out.
