this is sooo funny . you know once upon a time people used to actually go into stores, something which would have prevented this entirely

@nick_chappy So I should open the box here at my house? And then when pieces do end up missing surely target won’t try to put the blame off on me for being the one who lost the pieces right? It’s not worth the $300 gamble when I can just get a full refund and buy a new one.

Read the replies and it seems like it’s a classic case of most people’s problems, he crated a fictional reality in his head where loads of pieces are missing because the box was damaged during shipping, without even checking or building it to see if anything actually is missing.

I’ll give this dude my salary if he can explain why he needs the box to a Lego set

@DigitalCK @ednguyen13 LEGOsets wouldn’t fit the character limit unfortunately. Sorry. I didn’t need pristine as I don’t intend to keep it sealed but I did need it to not have tape down all 6 sides etc.

@ednguyen13 They don’t display the box. But they do keep them. Pristine condition is more for those keeping sealed not builders. And it’s not LEGOs. LEGO sets or LEGO bricks. Never LEGOs. Culture vulture scalpers suck.

The worst things about selling LEGOs was keeping boxes in pristine condition. Boxes needed to be stored on industrial shelving instead of wire racks and in a climate controlled environment. Customers also wanted clean boxes; displaying the box was an extension of the build.

@Kartonkoppboi @daringswift13 Ok I’ll bite please let me know what kinda additional pics and it videos you need to understand that target shipped this to me in a display box and not in a cardboard shipping box. I live to give random people on the internet the validation they crave.

@its_joshuajames @daringswift13 My initial tweet was calm. In fact it was boring af. At that time I had 2 followers. If target had just replied “hey dm us” no one would have ever seen this. Target is the one who made this go viral with their snarky responses to me.

@daringswift13 @BuildingMyLEGOs I’m not on Targets side. But I do recognize they are a private business with their own sustainability program and that’s how they function. I’m not on OPs side either. He is being a dick. I’ve received so many free items over the past year due to situations exactly like this.

Anybody complaining about this man's response hasn't been on the internet for the past few days. It's not in a box to conceal what it is. What if a rogue Franchise owner from Brick and Minifigs had decided that was a part of their inventory?

@icemyeyes I marked it as a gift and expected a set I paid $300 for would be shipped in a thick cardboard shipping box not a thin display box. Just like every other set I have had target ship me was. And I intend to build the set. Scalpers buy multiple sets and keep them sealed. I bought 1.

If the conversation is about increased theft possibility, then have it shipped to the post office. Get a PO Box or set a UPS Store as your pickup point. I get it but you have to take some personal responsibility here, too.

Fun fact: the only real reason you need to keep boxes is for resale value. If you’re not planning on using a toy for its intended purpose, that’s on you to find sellers that will treat a so-called collectible the way you feel it should be treated. Like, it’s Target lol.

@cunterscales A brown box could have diapers in it or an iPad. A box for a $300 LEGO set has a $300 LEGO set in it. Can you really not see why that is like a flashing neon sign for a porch pirate? Or even someone who isn’t a porch pirate but just happens to be driving down my street?
