We've received many questions about a possible smoke smell across northeast Colorado this morning. It is indeed smoke produced by large wildfires in Nebraska that moved into northeast Colorado this morning reducing visibility and creating poor air quality. #COwx

All of Wellington has lost power due to extreme winds.

As anticipated, the wind is causing hazardous conditions around Boulder County. Please be cautious when driving or going outside today. Hwy 93 is closed in both directions between CO 72 and CO 128 due to a semi rollover. CO 128 is closed in both directions between Eldorado Blvd/Simms and Hwy 93 due to safety concerns. There are also downed and low hanging lines in several locations in the foothills west of Boulder.

About the recent snow… Although the moisture was much needed, it only briefly pressed the pause button on wildfires. Around 2:30 this afternoon AFR responded to a grass fire along the southbound I-225 off-ramp to 6th Ave. This timelapse video was captured by a CDOT camera. The fire was quickly reported to 911 by motorists and controlled within 10-minutes. No injuries occurred and crews were unable to determine the cause. Common roadside fire causes include improperly discarded smoking material, sparks from trailer chains dragging, and heat from vehicles parked in dry grass. Please continue to be extra cautious with sources of heat, sparks and open flame near vegetation. #COWX

Huge flames from likely structures being impacted by major fire south of Limon CO #COwx

The wildfire outside Beaver, Oklahoma is moving incredibly fast, and easily jumping roads as seen in this footage by Jarred Burk. Very strong winds are pushing this fire making it an incredibly dangerous situation for people in its path. Firefighters have a tough fight in front of them.

Was this a freak snowstorm out of nowhere? Legit asking. Because if it was known bad snow was coming, it's near malpractice by Payton not to kick the FG to go up 10-0. If the storm just popped up from nowhere, it makes decision more understandable.

An S4 severe solar radiation storm is now in progress - this is the largest solar radiation storm in over 20 years. The last time S4 levels were observed was in October, 2003. Potential effects are mainly limited to space launch, aviation, and satellite operations.
