I think the new Artemis moon base plans are a big improvement from Gateway. But the problem is, how much time will it take to convert everything. And how the next administration in 2028 might change things as well.

I’ve been waiting literally decades for NASA to articulate a plan for a Moon base. Now Carlos Garcia-Galan is doing a masterful job of precisely this. Dozens of landings. Drones. RTGs. Rovers. Habitats. Excavators. This is incredible stuff.

Wow. China just completed a tethered takeoff and landing test of their crewed Lanyue lunar lander prototype. The country is pushing to land astronauts on the Moon’s surface before 2030, and this successful test was a huge step forward. The completion of this landing and ascent verification test validated the overall design, engine shutdown procedures, and the integration of the GNC and propulsion subsystems.
