The right wing and the far right have not tweeted about this Nazi who tried to behead a Kurdish barber with an axe. Nigel Farage, Tommy Robinson, Robert Jenrick, Rupert Lowe, and all the usual suspects were silent. But they are very vocal about incidents like the horrific attempted murder in Belfast and Henry Nowak’s murder. They are opportunists who use horrible incidents involving minorities to sow division and hatred. A Saudi student was stabbed in the neck outside student accommodation in Cambridge by a cocaine user, and they did not say F all.

So the far right have been calling for all Somalilans to be deported since the footage of that horrible attack in Belfast emerged. Now it turns out the suspect was Sudanese. So I guess they will just call for all Sudanese to be deported. Shameless racists.

We need calm heads. It’s very important that people like Rupert Lowe, Elon Musk, Nigel Farage and others don’t use this horrific Belfast incident to whip up hostility and division against minorities, migrants and Muslims living in the UK. We all agree the incident was disgusting and horrific.

I spent a chunk of my early years around Mormons and they were in general exemplary people. Solid families, friendly and open. If I had one complaint it would be aggressive proselytizing - which even happened on the school bus. But that is also a healthy sign of confidence in their way of life. Exact discussions of their theology strike me as beside the point when they frequently live more ‘Christian lives’ than men serving as Jesuit priests or leaders of prosperity gospel megachurches - which are basically a Sunday infomercial.
