@CharlesShort @PaulNiland OK, I only know some of his recent articles about Russia X Ukraine and that's bullshit from the head to toe. As for the "rise of nationalism in Eastern Europe": I would say US/Western Europe people are often projecting some kinds of nationalism to countries they've never been to.

If you know anything about historical and current relations between russia and Ukraine, you know to ignore John Mearsheimer.
Ukraine wasn't about to be accepted into NATO. Not when the war began in 2014 (see my pinned tweet) nor at the time of the 2022 full-scale invasion.

@PaulNiland NATO expansion (per John Mearsheimer) partially antagonized Russia into invading Ukraine. Later, adding those two late comers adds little to NATO and further antagonizes Putin. But why should I care? Europeans want the US out of NATO, so not our problem. I no longer care.

@NovotnyF1990 @PaulNiland Well, back in the 90’s, JM actually was pretty prescient about the ride of nationalism in East Europe and called the Bosnian war pretty accurately. He’s no dummy. But he’s had the Nato expansion and the Ukrainian invasion 100% wrong from the very start.
