I sometimes feel bad for people who don’t enjoy stupid, silly, and/or nerdy things. Like d&d, or Lord of the Rings! Seriously, what a boring existence. “Something something escapist fantasy, something something clever Tolkien reference.”

@brambletale Ah yes, the never ending struggle between trying to be successful and trying not to SEEM like you’re trying too hard! I know it well. Well, for what it’s worth, I salute your effort and wish you (an actual human being) nothing but the best!

@Conn_Freeman Haha I can't speak to that as much. As a self-published author, I am guilty of that myself 😅 But I get what you mean! Real human connection is a lost art form in the age of AI and bots and stuff. That's why I'm online a lot less now and really only do my business on social media

@brambletale Ah, I get that. Not to mention most people (if they even ARE people) are just trying to sell something these days…

@Conn_Freeman Well said, it's a shame really, I was raised on the internet, been online since the Myspace days, I was active in forums and stuff and made lots of lifelong friends that I met irl through the years. I feel like kids now just can't do that safely anymore.

@brambletale You know, I think you might be right… It’s an “honor without laws” versus the modern “laws without honor” model.

@Conn_Freeman That's true! I kinda miss the old wild west days of the internet though, it was so raw and unfiltered, but it was still somehow more wholesome than it is these days.

@Skullgrin140 Ah, fair enough. I did prefer Morrowind (the world) to dumbed-down Skyrim, but that’s more an error of the people doing the dumbing than the new fans… 🤷‍♂️

@Conn_Freeman There's a positive in a negative to becoming mainstream just as there was a positive and a negative to opening the door and letting somebody walk in and leave a mess and not bother to clean it up.
