Do yourself a favor: put on the filter that doesn’t allow you to see “sensitive material.” Use the “not interested” feature. Block accounts that use politics, racism, etc. for engagement. Weed your garden, protect your peace/soul. The sky isn’t falling, it’s just your algorithm.

Naturally she fails to understand the meaning of Mary Sue entirely. It does not mean "girl character", it means "perfect character who can do anything with no limitations". Luke Skywalker was a half decent pilot with a degree of natural ability with the Force that takes him years to develop. He isn't particularly good at anything else. From the very beginning of The Force Awakens, Rey is an expert pilot, a master martial artist, a top spaceship mechanic, and within five seconds of finding out that the Force exists ascends to the level of Jedi Master. She's also hot, smart, brave, and all the other good things. She needs neither assistance nor instruction. Character growth is unnecessary and impossible. Her only struggle is getting people to admit her natural perfect awesomeness. And even this comes easily to her.

Daisy Ridley says calling her character in Star Wars A Mary Sue is sexist: “The Mary Sue thing in itself is sexist because it’s the name of a woman. Everyone was saying that Luke had the exact same [capabilities]. I think Rey is incredible vulnerable, and nothing she’s doing is for the greater good. She’s just doing what she thinks is the right thing. And she doesn’t want to do some of it, but she feels compelled to do it. So for me, I was just confused.” Is this why modern Star Wars fails because they can't understand criticism?

@k1rallik Go to local book stores, and get books. We need to spent less time with blue light, more time in natural light. Less doom scrolling, more page turning. Much of what we see just upsets us, some of it we wish we didn’t. With that, I’m gonna open my book.

Crazy idea: use a book as the script for a movie. Don’t add, don’t “adapt.” Just bring it to life on the screen. The Hobbit is an example of taking a great book and producing, I’ll say it, slop. A short enough book to be a 3 hr movie, true to itself. They didn’t do that,.. #lotr

@maulfisto KOTOR, easy. It’s possibly the greatest game of all time. The only reason it’s not my goat is because I’ve put more time into Diablo 2 than any other game, over 26 years… but KOTOR is the greatest non isometric RPG. Jedi academy was the OG Jedi Survivor.

@ShitpostRock2 Hated the empire losing to the Thalmor, but it almost took some imagining they were defeated and subservient. This element wasn’t well done in ES5. In Morrowind the legion awed you. They had a real presence, and you could feel the culture and tension between them and the natives

@GamesRadar Bethesda used to be one of my favorite devs, but Skyrim and FO4 showed their products were getting watered down. Then came IP via like FO76 and ESO. Rock Star used to put out way more titles more frequently, but overall seems like their haven lost their “soul” yet - or all of it.

@VideoGameIX I know people will take this as me saying it’s a bad game. It’s not, it’s a well done game. In the grand scheme, it’s just a much more soulless ES. Fast travel alone has a huge impact on “adventuring.” Example: If I need something, I can fast travel to a merchant, then back.

@VideoGameIX Wild to me how many people hold this game as the standard. Maybe because it dropped 15 years ago most modern gamers cant really remember a time beforehand. This was their 1st ES. Mine was Morrowind. It had something Skyrim couldnt capture, so felt a mile wide and an inch deep.

@PSuchodolak It’s funny to me that you feel corporatism killed the soul of games, which I agree with, but used Skyrim as the standard. Skyrim was literally the most soulless Elder Scrolls, that made me feel the way you do right now. It’s to ES what FO4 is to FO. A sign Bethesda changed.

The empire had yet to tame it, the locals hated you. It was perfection. Unreal 5 + a combat system w/o dice rolling would be great, but the modern gamer needs slop.
