It’s literally higher EV to brew with janky “off-meta” decks and have fun on any deck you want even if it’s the literal worst deck in the game than it is to play the tier 0 best deck in the game and try to win the tournament. For perspective an Annie player made top 4 of the first NA regional. They got $2,000 in cash and then a top 8 MF promo. At best they made $10K from making top 4. Someone that went 6-3, didn’t make day 2, won best of Ahri and sold it for $40K within a month. Riftbound OP system is truly amazing. Rewards the grinders trying to win the tournament, rewards the grinders that want to optimize and play their favorite champion the best, it keeps the meta fresh and encourages people to find off meta decks highest potential and sometimes those decks even pop off as a dark horse and make top cut so you get the best of both worlds of having a deep finish and getting the best of prizing.
