You can’t really coach a WR to improve his natural athleticism, size, speed, grit, toughness, hands, hand-size, and intelligence. Stribling has all of that. Route running is something you can develop.

@tonyrenghini 57% of his yards came from 2 route concepts (hitch & Go) mainly lines up on the left side, very little time in slot, low efficiency as WR <2 yprr. Your think that will counter Sea. He will see 15 snaps a game, unless he develops more, like our last WRs we drafted… ohhh wait n/m

De'Zhuan Stribling is not my cup of tea as a WR, but he fills two vital skillset deficiencies the 49ers have. 1) Run blocking 2) YAC This is a nice start countering Seattle. Block like a TE and take out Emmanwori, and go buckwild after the catch to create low-effort explosives.

@TheRealMcKoy85 I don’t think either will be solid long term, stribling will make some plays here and there but he’s not a 1 or a 2. Same with height maybe if we’re lucky 2-4 sacks a year as rotational piece, success of 24 year old rookies are low. However, I hope they are the exception

If you can get 2 solid, long-term starters out of this draft class, it’ll be a success. I’m guessing Stribling and Height, but maybe they get really lucky and one of the UDFA’s does something. Time will tell.

De’Zhaun Stribling. One thing that he has that is hard to find is true breakaway speed with the ball in his hands. he doesn’t lose any speed or slow down until he reaches the end zone or is tackled. It’s like that all game, every game. He is also the best blocking wr from this draft class. 49ers drafted him to combat seattles big nickel defense and their team speed. Having a wr with elite top tier speed in the slot that is capable of blocking like a small TE at times means the matchup up issues Seattle presents from defensive personnel are erased. 49ers also needed yac to combat Sea’s scheme. They get that with Stribling. he was drafted where he was because 49ers believe he was the best match up issue vs Sea at that point in the draft.
