@DrNeilStone MTG has stated that the US government is creating hurricanes. Given her previous role in the US Congress and the inside info she has, she absolutely must be right. This said, can ivermectin help with the hurricanes? 😂

@Colchis11 @PerpetualAsset @jonbrooks Mini splits are notorious for biological contamination. I've dealt with a few where the blowers were so packed full that they weren't pushing air any more.

My AC died today. HVAC company comes out and says: "Compressor is shot. $10,500." I call a friend. Same unit. Same day install. $6,500. How does a $4,000 price difference exist in a business that's supposed to be competitive?

@clintoptions Not yet. These stocks are notoriously hard to own. It'll likely come down more, especially when the lockout period ends. If my patience doesn't pay off then I move to another stock

@ScottAppliedSci IMHO: keto helps your body to use fat more efficiently as a fuel. After a year or so, combining with Mediterranean diet is well advised. Burning *your* fat as opposed to consumed fat is the goal. Staying long-term on a diet that eliminates en entire food group is dumb to me 🤷

Saying something like a vaccine is safe and effective does not mean its 100% safe and 100% effective It means that the benefit to risk ratio is strongly in favour of getting it Not a difficult concept

@MarshalPJohnson @Tyler2ONeil Indeed. That aside, there are services he can engage that will put him in a position to leave with as little liability as possible. Leaving any western country is complicated and he seems poorly advised.

This policy is downstream of a few misconceptions about wealth: A lot of wealth is real, but not liquid. If you tax this wealth, you run the risk of demanding cash from someone who cannot immediately pay it. This causes real hardship. When you effectively confiscate wealth, that has downstream negative effects. Not only does it drive people away from your country, it also leads them to disinvest when they need to make assets liquid in order to pay your taxes. This sends a signal that if you want to become wealthy, you should leave Canada BEFORE trying to make money. Even if Canada benefits concretely in the short term from this policy, it may weaken Canada’s economy going forward. Also, if you think this policy is outrageous, remember that when elections come along. “Democratic Socialism” is growing on the Left.
Gad Saad@GadSaad

Following a very difficult meeting with my accountant, I just found out how much it is going to cost me in terms of an "exit tax" to leave Quebec and Canada. No human being in a free society should have their hard-earned money stolen in this manner. I'm genuinely numb. I'm speechless.

@MarshalPJohnson @Tyler2ONeil This is the real irony: he's moving to the US which is even more hostile to its citizens than Canada due to citizenship based taxation.

@Tyler2ONeil Except a number of countries also do this, including the US, Japan, France etc. Some also tax worldwide income as the US does.

People are astoundingly stupid. My comments about the departure tax is not that I should be treated differently from anyone else. I am making a point about the extent to which taxes are confiscatory. As I have previously explained, there was a time when ZERO cents of income tax were levied in Canada and the US. Then bit by bit, that "temporary" measure, to be applied to only a few, and at a very low percentage rate of your income, becomes a mammoth monster that takes more than 50% of your earnings. It can occur because there are no repercussions if governments do not balance their budgets (other than voting them out). Hence, what starts off as a small temporary tax on a few becomes an existential theft that is orders of magnitude larger than the so-called illegal extortion tax of the Mafia. It can exist only because the great majority of people BENEFIT from this form of parasitic taxation. But someone has to pay for everyone else, and when you are that someone, you are not necessarily pleased to be funding the ultimate Ponzi scheme. I'm making a moral, philosophical, and ethical argument. It's not just about me.

@Tellit007 Seeing studies get trotted out to invalidate the side effects reads like hostility. I take ezetimibe now. The value of statins isn't lost on me. They just didn't work for me and while I could be talked into pitavastatin, I won't otherwise consider this class of meds. IMHO.

@Tellit007 From my own experience. I have a moderate cac score. Was prescribed atorva. After a while, I couldn't do my job (I'm in the trades) - it took me too long to cut a hole in a ceiling. Stopped it and it went away. Restarted and it came back. Dr then prescribed rosuva. Next:

@Tellit007 It took a while to figure it out. Again though, I stopped the statin and the problem stopped. Started again, and the issue re-emerged after a month or so. Pravastatin was then prescribed but by the, I'd seen enough and never took it. I take ezetimibe now. Lastly:
