Yesterday, people I greatly admire and look up to in this industry looked me in my eyes and called me a star. They hugged me, shook my hands and told me I had done well. I honestly cannot say how much this means to me. I still cannot put into words what a dream yesterday was. 🥹

I love the feeling of watching a film and seeing actors in a completely new light. It always makes me so happy. I really enjoyed watching @edomalo in this; it was different, fresh, and exciting. Congratulations to the entire cast and crew. The music was beautiful as well. Congratulations and Welldone to @judithaudu . This is also definitely Uyi’s best work yet. Well done, Madam Director @missy_uyi 💙

It’s Day 13 of me sharing African women who shaped the political and social fabric of the African continent, yet you may or may not know them. Today we talk about Hajia Gambo Sawaba. She is known as the most jailed woman in Nigeria. Even so went on to be imprisoned 16 times for her activism against British colonialism in Northern Nigeria and her women's rights organizing. Hajia's influence shaped the role of women in political spaces in Northern Nigeria from passive agents to bold voices who defied cultural and religious barriers that told women to keep quiet and just handle domestic affairs. Hajia was definitely ahead of her time especially that she started her political activism at only 16 years old with no formal education. I read her memoir published in 1979 and truly what a woman and what a warrior. Through abuse, betrayal, frequent arrests and being jailed, she always came out of it more radical and ready to fight. Hajia fought so hard for women in the north to get voting rights that other women in part of Nigeria had received. As many women in the north of Nigeria followed the practice of purdah, a form of social seclusion, Hajia went from house-to-house to speak to them. This displeased the Authorities in Kano and, in 1952, she was hauled before the conservative Alkali (Magistrates) Court, on charges of “drawing out women who were in purdah”. The court sentenced her to three months in prison. Yet it didn't stop her. Every arrest, motivated her to do more.

After Asherkine gifts women, what usually happens? Without fail? Does the same happen when he gifts a man? We cannot keep having incomplete conversations. There is COLLECTIVE behaviour that follows. You people keep making this conversation about guilt, when it’s about harm

When you’re praying for a quick safe delivery, don’t forget to add that they should have time to give you some pain medication. Everything was so quick they didn’t have time to even put an IV line in. I gave birth in triage with no meds or epidural. I still have flashbacks!

It’s naive to think shame is what will set Nigerian men right. The deep seated solidarity they have for themselves is not something shame can dismantle. It’s actual lawful & unlawful consequences that will do it. Rapists will have to die, accomplices getting locked up. Yup.

I actually want power from national grid. I don’t want solar or inverter. I want my country to work. Shitty ass place that makes your co sufferers talk down at you for not being able to figure out or hustle solutions for government incompetence. Foolish place I hate it hereeeeeee
