@scottastevenson We certainly don’t need any new subsidy but we could use broad scale deregulation.

We need to stop trying to fix Canada with policy. We don’t need policy change, we need culture change. I don’t want another dollar in new grants, venture capital or incentives for the government to buy Canadian products. I want communication to our people that restores ambition and some faith in capitalism. We have people protesting outside grocery stores because no one bothered explaining to them how money printing drives inflation. Half our population still thinks that landlords and grocery stores rose prices for no reason other than greed. We have a massive economic education and communication problem. Our institutions are failing. Half the people I know cannot find a GP/family doctor, and have been on waiting lists for years. No one is going to save us. Printing money or redistributing a shrinking pie isn’t going to fix anything. We need to roll up our sleeves to work hard and build, it’s the only way forward. And we need to build things at scale where there are defensible large returns. Funding 1,000 microbreweries also won’t save our economy as they will just compete eachother to death. We need to tell everyone what must be done. We need to stop looking to policy to fix everything—it’s our over-reliance on policy that got us here.

@BrentToderian And totally car dependent. At what point will we really focus on great City building- The pressure against a better solution is huge- Auto Lobby. Zoning within cities, Banks, builders, etc. the biggest impediment is existing cities and their zoning.

This is what happens when you’re obsessed with the idea of a “detached house,” even godawful ugly ones, when your country has a pretty good track record of building terrace-houses (aka rowhouses or townhouses elsewhere), and should be considering other forms of #GentleDensity.

Conservatives just voted to scrap CBC. It raises $2 billion and costs $1.4 billion. We are 41 million - it reaches 20 million - monthly. We spend less on it than the rest of the G7. It has the highest media trust score. While we defend Canada - Conservatives defund Canada.
