Sounds pretty normal. The transition to intentionally making time for yourself is pretty hard at first, but necessary. I’m a wet plate artist, and being intentional about continuing to make time to do the things I love helps me be a better Dad and husband by allowing me to be more present when I am with them.

Why did Tolkien call death a gift? In The Silmarillion, he writes death is an exclusive gift given to mankind by God. All other creatures envy this gift, including the immortal elves: Mankind alone, through death, is granted union with the divine. Tolkien's point is that immortality in a fallen world is not a blessing, nor man's actual purpose. To live forever in a world marred by corruption, vice, and decay is to be trapped with no escape. Death, then, is not a tragic ending, but a release — a return of creation to its creator. The humility of mortal man leads to a glory far greater than immortality. In other words, man was made for something greater than earthly pleasure. Death is the preparation for eternity. Today we tend to see this backwards. We treat death as the ultimate evil, and endless life as the ultimate good, no matter the cost. We try to preserve life indefinitely, and in doing so, lose sight of what life is actually for. Tolkien's final insight is simple: A man who refuses to die for anything will one day find he has nothing worth living for. A world that fears death above all else will never reach the highest good, for life truly begins when you discover a love greater than life itself.

The people will not wake up. They'd rather break televisions in anger cause their football team lost than break skulls of child rapists funded by those football games. I cannot escape the system. I have no nearby allies and nobody sees what I see. I have no space to grow my own food and all my money was invested into this play. It's probably all too late anyways, but I'm certain when shit hits the fan people will just move away thinking they can run, only to realize there is no place to run. The writing is on the wall. Are you prepared to die soon? Because we are being invaded, and they want to conquer us all.

Also, I know you want a radical revolution, but have you considered that there is a way other than violence? As someone who has participated in real activism with my native family, I can tell you. They use violence as the inciting incident to justify their brutality and lack of humanity. I’ve had my shirt lit up by red dot laser sights as they waited for one of us to make the wrong move. Christs way is better. What if the answer is as simple as everyone waking up to the reality that we fund the system daily through heavy taxation and all we need to do is quite paying them to control and manipulate us. Ignore news, grow your own food. Love your family. Stop complying with a system that is designed to destroy you. I’m free because I know where I come from and I know the one I serve is greater.

That sounds like resistance to me. Perhaps you’re hung up on semantics. I was surprised to see you take on offensive stance when I didn’t personally see my response as mutually exclusive of the means. See, if I am ever in the position I have to kill a man, I’ll do it with all the love I carry inside me. Love for my family, for for my children, love for my neighbor. I pray it never comes to that. But love is a more powerful force for change than fear or hate. Only love can pull the authority of heaven down to earth and birth it within an individual to give them the strength to do that which must be done.
