@newstart_2024 we need syndicalism - worker-owned factories, not more factories owned by corporations either foreign or domestic.

Helen Andrews made a point that feels increasingly hard to ignore. The shift from blue-collar to pink-collar jobs hasn’t just changed the economy; it’s quietly fueling a marriage crisis. Studies on areas hit hard by the China shock showed the sharpest drops in marriage rates happened where men lost stable work. When men aren’t economically flourishing, family formation stalls. You can’t simply swap who brings home the paycheck and expect the same results. She argues we need more real manufacturing jobs — not just for economic security against China, but because strong male employment is a key driver of the next generation. This one made me pause. We’ve celebrated the “feminization” of the workforce as progress for decades, but if it’s contributing to fewer marriages and fewer kids, maybe we’re missing something important. Economies aren’t just about GDP. They’re about people building lives, families, and futures. When the job market stops supporting that for half the population, the downstream effects are massive. Do you think bringing back more stable manufacturing jobs could help fix the marriage and birth rate decline, or is that too simplistic?

If a deal is struck to end the Iranian conflict because it is believed that the Strait of Hormuz cannot be protected from Iranian terrorism and Iran still possesses the capability to destroy major Gulf oil infrastructure, then Iran will be perceived as being a dominate force requiring a diplomatic solution. This combination of Iran being perceived as having the ability to terrorize the Strait in perpetuity and the ability the inflict massive damage to Gulf oil infrastructure is a major shift of the balance of power in the region and over time will be a nightmare for Israel. Also, it makes one wonder why the war started to begin with if these perceptions are accurate. I personally am a skeptic of the idea that Iran cannot be denied the ability to terrorize the Strait and the region cannot protect itself against Iranian military capability. It is important we get this right.

I’ve learned that apparently if you have any concerns about AI at all, if you express any remote skepticism, if you’re even a bit worried about giving trillion-dollar Big Tech behemoths free rein to do whatever they want with Ai, then you’re a Luddite barbarian who hates progress

@JonathanTurley it looks like a pretext to invade and overthrow the cuban government to me and to justify yet another prolonged american military occupation to prop up the new regime.

AG Todd Blanche emphasized that this is not a "show indictment." He added that they expect Castro to now turn himself over or will be brought here "by other means." Those "other means" are obviously intriguing as to whether this warrant might be enforced with an aircraft carrier.

America’s Bicentennial was a huge deal in spite of a horrible economy, high crime, an unpopular president, and the country reeling from Vietnam and Watergate. The economy, Iran, and other current events don’t explain the lack of interest in America250. It would still be ignored, possibly even more so, under President Kamala

@disclosetv they should be redeployed home along with ALL US troop in Europe and then discharged from the military where they can contribute to the economy rather than draining from it.

Heather Mac Donald dropped a firecracker on John Stossel: universities are now run by a culture of emotional safety and equity, and she says the massive rise in female influence is the driving force behind it. Portraits of legendary male scientists are coming down because they might “trigger” female students. Polls show men overwhelmingly pick truth and academic freedom; women prioritize feelings and fairness. No overlap. She argues this is fatal for universities, whose only job is the ruthless pursuit of truth, not comfort. And she’s calling on parents and men to push back harder, even at home. If we trade uncomfortable discovery for emotional protection, we’re quietly breaking the institution that’s supposed to advance knowledge for everyone. I’ve been chewing on how stark these preference gaps are between men and women in institutions. This one made me rethink what “progress” actually looks like here. Do you believe universities should put emotional safety first, or is that a dangerous tradeoff?

@ramzpaul an impeachment and conviction for violating the war powers clause of the constitution would be fully justified if he ignores a war powers resolution to stop the war.

@amconmag before trump's ruinous fiasco, iran was willing to negotiate on the nuke issue, but no longer. now it demands them as an absolute guarantee against future US attacks which is understandable. same thing was done by North Korea.

@amconmag also there is no way to stop iran from charging tolls for passing the strait short of full-scale invasion and occupation of the country which would be make the US invasion and occupation of iraq look like a picnic with iran's mountainous terrain and huge army.

@amconmag just like north korea's obtaining nukes, iran would never use them against the US and would only wants them to ward off future attacks/invasion from US. the very same reason NK wanted them.
