Watching Capel and Kuntz put together the least efficient, lowest scoring team, of all time

I really like taking the swing on Bethea. If he plays like the 5 star we know he is, that could really take this team to the next level. But even if he doesn’t, there’s still a very strong, experienced, proven roster around him

My favorite thing about this great portal class is how the staff has balanced their acquisitions -Proven high major starters (Ndongo, George, Powell) -Elite, decorated mid-major players (Sumler, Mighty) -Elite talents with NBA potential if things go right (Bethea, Foster)

@hail2pitt01 I think Bethea has that type of potential but I think he’d thrive in the 6th man role. I’d prefer the better shooter with more proven production (Sumler) starting Ndongo is definitely the best player, that’s for sure.

@DixonDisciple This is a deep, complete roster. They’ve had better individual players under Capel but never a rotation this strong. I also highly doubt they got Bethea to come off the bench. He and Ndongo likely are their best players.

Jay Kuntz silenced the doubters. I’ll admit, I was one when Felesi decommitted. But there was clearly a plan in place, and the plan was so good that I didn’t think Pitt could pull it off. One major rotation spot to fill in my eyes. Need shooting and need another center. #H2P

@DixonDisciple The only concerning thing is ppg for a lot of these guys are kind of low compared to other top level recruits. Hoping we pull a guard with that soon and at least a backup center.

What a day for Pitt Hoops. Jay Kuntz proving himself quickly. I am encouraged by the team below. Ndongo is a player I’ve always loved. For George to work, I think the 2 needs to be a scorer who can really shoot (A’Lahn Sumler?). Then a shooting wing in the 7 spot. #H2P

@MattJohnson_27 Totally hear you. And I think in my ideal scenario Mighty is rotating with a proven high major guy. I liked when I was hearing Fru’s name. I just don’t think we have the budget for that at this point.

@DixonDisciple Don’t get me wrong, I’m optimistic about the team, but the thing that really screwed us was both center options getting injured and forcing cam to play out of position. God forbid another injury happens, I don’t want just one. If not papa, just a big body to rebound and defend.

@MattJohnson_27 Great question/point. I’m thinking when Mighty is out you slide Ndongo there as needed and play Foster at the 4. Given what we have, doubt there’s money for another proven C. But in ideally we add an emergency big. Maybe ask Kante to rethink things for a second straight year??

@DixonDisciple Who is your back up center in that scenario? Is it just mighty and if things go wrong, play smaller with Ndongo and foster/diomande? I don’t know if we can go through another season of one center playing 39.5 minutes a game and we need size inside for defense if nothing else.

You know that Jonathan Powell is a big time player when WVU fans are flocking to every tweet to tell you how bad he is and how dumb Pitt is.

Really like the Jonathan Powell addition for Pitt. He's proven to be a good 3-point shooter on high volume at this level. He'll play a lot more for the Panthers than he did for UNC last year and I'd bet the numbers will look similar to those from his freshman season at WVU.

Now this one moves me. Great get by Jay Kuntz. There’s room for a shooter of Powell’s caliber on any team. H2P

@tony_tennyson @HtownPitttxst2 I hope he proves to be a good player. Seems like a great athlete. I just think him signing this early indicates we’ve sold him on a significant role here, which would be very disappointing. If he earns that role, though, that would be very good.

@DixonDisciple @HtownPitttxst2 What I'm saying is we have minutes whether it's a lot for him or a handful he can get better cuz he'll play a little bit more and you can see his skill set.
