If the academy was cool they’d nominate BACKROOMS for production design. It’s not often that the entire film’s setting is its own character that evokes such an uneasy feeling from its audience in its exploration.
The blockbuster summer movie as we know it is dead. RIP IP. The most talked about movies of the summer are two low budget indie films—OBSESSION and BACKROOMS. Not sequels. Not spinoffs. Not reboots. OGs. Movies are back, baby. This is the way.
