Presenting my all time greatest hall of fame entry: 6 full odds shinies at 169:41 of game time. Pretty good considering it’s not like I started the file with that goal in mind. In fact I was in the middle of making my way through Kanto when I first happened upon a shiny.

For the record I agree with a lot of the common complaints about Champions new mechanics on a philosophical level, but I understand why they’re happening from the company’s perspective and I consider them minor sacrifices as long as we get the game I imagine in the long run

Finally finished off FRLG Switch addition last night! Deliberately avoided the legendary birds this time around and there was definitely a noticeable difficulty spike.

@AndyLaVGC Yes, I assume that’s how it’s going to work. Idk if they’ll compensate at all for that, like you can choose between 2 “normals” and a “rare” type thing, but I’d be shocked if Pikachu and Raichu weren’t two separate Pokemon that were both obtainable somehow or another

@DynamoTwentyTwo Yeah but like if I can recruit a pre evolution, then I can’t evince it and I gotta recruit the evolution separately and vice versa

Lowkey I think it’s kind of interesting that we could have formats where one of a Pokemon being legal doesn’t imply its whole evolution line is, for mons that perform the same role. But they can basically hand pick the roster now so anything that’s not in I’d take as on purpose

Have ya’ll thought about how like technically we don’t REALLY know if the pre-evolutions of any of these mons will be in champions? (This isn’t intended to be a doom post, but like I guess it could be)

@AndyLaVGC Obviously I don’t have all the details on how that works mechanically but I’d have to start from the assumption that if a Mon is legal in the current format then it’s possible to recruit it. (And if it’s not then you can’t use it anyways)

@AndyLaVGC That would be sad but I find it unlikely that they would never do “anything you can catch in ZA” type regulations if not actual Little Cup type rule sets for fun. So I don’t foresee it being an issue where they skip including pre-evos in the game entirely.

For the record I’d estimate I’ve spent around ~60 dollars in PokemonGO after almost 10 years and that’s how I approach spending in mobile games. I got a limited budget I’ll access when I deem the value worth it but I won’t pay to skip grinding so you better offer more than that.

The same realization lead me to consider starting to look at my opponent’s controller because some of them were probably also giving that information away but I couldn’t forgive myself if I ever lost off someone else intentionally being tricky lol
