Ts @LeslieThomasSch put their new learning into action this week. Following #thinkingclassrooms PD with @pgliljedahl, Ss are working on thin-sliced questions with banners and making meaningful notes using the quadrant method. It is amazing to see and hear the thinking! #HRCEMath

How many ways can you show one quarter? Gr 7 Ss @LeslieThomasSch used a fraction square to shade 1/4 as many different ways as they could. One question that led to lots of rich conversations. #HRCEMath @FractionTalks

Gr 9 Ss in Ms. Cooke’s class @SackvilleHigh used a @knowledgehook #GameShow to check for understanding before their assessment today. A great opportunity to ask questions and review the concepts they have been practicing. #HRCEMath

Gr 9 Ss @SackvilleHigh were practicing applying the order of operations, including exponents. Instead of assigning a worksheet, Ms. MacNeil created a scavenger hunt - same type of questions, same type of practice but so much more engagement! A great end to the week! #HRCEMath

Ms. Cooke’s gr 9 Ss @SackvilleHigh used a @knowledgehook GameShow today to practice using powers of ten. The students enjoy the collaborative celebrations, and the Quick Summary helps guide instruction. #HRCEMath

Ss in #InquiryMath10 @SackvilleHigh had a great start to their week by reviewing previous math concepts with a #MathMarket. Working with a partner, they bought questions and sold the correct answers for Math Moolah! #HRCEMath

Gr 9s @MSMSJaguars used a #MathMarket to prepare for their inequalities assessment. Ss worked collaboratively to solve the questions so they could ‘sell’ back the answers. A great activity with high engagement and lots of opportunities to ask questions! #HRCEMath

It’s been a busy week in Ms. Thibeau’s grade 6 class @MSMSJaguars! Ss explored how to find the volume of rectangular prisms in lots of different ways, and built their understanding of how they could find the volume of any rectangular prism. #HRCEMath

Gr 6 Ss in Ms. Thibeau’s class @MSMSJaguars have been learning about perimeter in so many ways! From using @MathigonOrg to find perimeter and create their own shapes to using @knowledgehook to check their understanding, it has been an engaging and productive week! #HRCEMath

A self-checking row game plus #VNPS equals “the best math class ever”! Mrs. Henry’s gr 9 Ss @islandviewhigh were practicing solving equations in a new way, leading to high engagement and lots of conversations about math. #HRCEMath @IVHSmathscience
